I don't think this is a 2degrees issue as per such, just trying to work out if this is widespread?

I'm hosting an MC server tonight for a bunch of friends and everyone in Australia is getting pretty big ping. A majority are on Telstra but there's a few that are not.

Some traceroutes from them:

It's a long standing issue I came across it earlier in the year the other way round when i had something hosted in Aus I think 2degrees don't have an arrangement to pick up the harder to reach / non-peering Aussie traffic for some of their CG-NAT IP ranges like 151.210.x.x. So perhaps ask for a different (static?) IP range or switch ISPs.

Looking at routing tables it looks like some of their static ranges in 202.124.x.x may be affected now too.

Changing IP would be a last resort, I have a lot of site to site VPN's setup and having to get all the remote routers changed would be a nightmare.

This issue seemed to have occurred fairly recently as I know one of these people had under 40ms to me at the time.

Not mutually exclusive I'll admit it may well not be a 2degrees issue but it is recurring, seems to be all fun and games until it affects the IP range you're on.

e.g. iiNet last year

I think the quick resolution offered is a change of IP.

This shouldn't be the case, i have asked the team to review all the peering advertisements to make sure they are equal.

Wouldn't this be a semi regular thing? CG-NAT Public IPs aren't static

The VPN's aren't related to the issue. They're all to NZ addresses.

Just a "side affect" of changing my IP would require an update for all the remote routers (that I don't have access to).

I’m having the same routing issues going through opposite way and have been for a while now.

Speed test to Telstra Sydney with a ping of 157ms, to Optus 40ms.
Was observing this behaviour with ping to Aussie servers when playing Warzone. Some I would have 50-70ms ping (same as my mate on Voyager), others 160ms (his would be 60ms).

I too have a static IP address in the 202.124.x.x range so hopefully a change tomorrow will lead to the same results you had. If not it’s isp change time.

Very interesting. Certainly seemed to be to do with the 202.124.x.x stuff.

That Sydney Telstra server has always been a bit weird for me, even after a new IP.
