As I mentioned earlier in the thread, VIX is another layer that runs on top of Open-PLI.  It adds some extra functions and a new selection of skins.  The main benefit is the Auto Timer function aka "Series Link" or "Season Pass".  I changed from using MySky to Vu+ Duo, and that was the only significant thing missing.  With VIX, that problem is solved, and there are so many other things it does much better than MySky.

Sorry, forgot about this. VIX replaces Open PLi or any other image. VIX is actually based on Open PLi but has more features etc. I am assuming you are comfortable with the VU+ menus and accessing the VU+ from a windows PC

If you are already running an image here is what to do to install VIX.

1 make a copy of the CCcam and OSCAM binaries. They can be found in root/usr/bin
2 make a copy of the CCcam.cfg file. It is in root/etc
3 make a copy of the whole root/var/tuxbox/config directory. It contains the 3 OSCAM config files
4 use something like dreambox edit to backup your bouquets and settings
5 jot down your lnb settings
6 Flash the VIX image. Get it from http://www.world-of-satellite.com/forumdisplay.php?154-VU-Duo-ViX-Team-images
7 Follow the wizard to do the initial setuo. Configure the LNB according to the settings you jotted down
8 Install SAMBA in the system, setup, network menu
9 Use dreambox edit (or whatever you used in 4) to restore your bouquets and settings
10 Copy the CCcam and OSCAM binaries to root/usr/softcams
11 Copy CCcam.cfg to /root/etc
12 Copy the root/var/tuxbox/config directory back
13 in menu, softcam/CI, Softcam manager start OSCAM and set it to autostart and then start CCcam and set it to autostart. It is important to start OSCAM first.

Thats it. If you reflash or install later releases just start at step 6.

Hi to tkr001.

Thanks for the step by step instructions. but alas I don't have a network set up at home to access the Vu Duo.

Can this be done by just connecting the duo into a spare ethernet port on the modem? and if so what else would I need to do?. evey cpl of months I connect it up to the bedroom tv and reroute a cable to it to some updates
when I was playing around before I lost most stuff but just got the usb and loaded it again and did a search for the channels

I am not sure if I have these or not "CCcam and OSCAM binaries" it would be nice if I got sky again to run through just 1 box.

To Grant K
I saw on another post that you "PM to you with the instructions I got from the NZ importer"
Could you do the same for me as well? I have the instruction book, but somethings are different

thanks again

Plugging the Vu+ Duo into a spare port on your modem should work as long as it's set to obtain an IP address via DHCP.  Check the network settings to see if that's the case.

If I send you those instructions, you will automatically get the CAM binary files as part of the image.  Make sure you save them away somewhere safe if you want to try loading other images.

I'll send you a PM shortly.

Good question, that was cpl of years ago so nor sure if they would still work, personally I find Open VIX easier to use instead of blk hole, but ur lucky to have a duo 2 'gifted' to u , and they have newer ccam files, but as i dont have sky i dont know if they work or not

cheers

It's pretty unlikely anyone here in NZ will be able to help you configure it for Italian TV.

Thanks all for the quick reply. So it is not possible to try with the same tricks the topic opener used?
Thanks again

You are very welcome to try, but given this is a New Zealand forum, there is unlikely to be anyone here with in depth knowledge of Italian TV to help you out with the difficult questionsfoot-in-mouth
