What do you guys think of the widgets on the samsung? Some say they get messy and are hard to use efficiently. Any truth to that?

+1 for the Samsung i8910. It's an awesome phone, and the look the faces of my friends who own iphones is priceless as it dawns on them that its a superior phone (not in every way but in many). Iphone is an awesome phone though of course

No problems with the widgets here either.

Nokia N900 FTW. Definately over the N97 or the Iphone. i find phones with only onscreen qwerty terrible and the iphones no exception. Plus why have the limitations that apple imposes on apps etc.? Not worth the pricetag if u ask me.

Thats just my 2 cents though. I'm holding out for a N900 to replace my N95.

The i8910 is a fine phone, battery life with its AMOLED screen and 1500mA battery is great (like the HD2 I have a review-ish thread on the i8910 here that you can check out).

coopastank: I am also curious about teh new LG phones. I have heard good things but im not sure if i will take that plunge. Its still LG if you get my drift.
The nokia N900 could be one to look for.
My main wants in a phone are a decent camera, office, good email support, twitter apps etc. Decent touch with logical actions, qwerty for text and availabilty of apps for upgrading.

This is possibly the hardest one to satisfy, as most people don't find WinMo (which you really need for Office) the most 'logical' of systems. However, the setup on the Touch Pro 2 seems very easy (from what I have used). For pure availability of apps you would want the Iphone, and I personally think it is the most logically set out touchscreen device (que the argueing....). But no physical qwerty keyboard (does it have to be physical?), average camera (depending what you need it for) and no office. For me, it would be a toss up between these two, based on your wants.

Hi - I presume 'office' is referring to word processor/spread sheet type apps...? I've been using Quickoffice on the iPhone & it handles all that 'officey' type stuff - with the obvious limitations of working on documents with a smallish screen.
To get an idea of what's available for the iPhone/iPod Touch requires a bit of time wading thru' the iTunes App Store. Just think of a subject (from cooking to remote controls to web cams to firearms) and type it into the search function....hell there are even really clever apps that'll make farting noises!
For another whole world of functionality you might like to explore the Jailbreak side of things (allowing the iPhone to run apps & behave in ways that Apple doesn't approve of). HTH

I do like the look of the iphone and most people are developing apps for the iphone but again its overpriced, can only run 1 app at a time and no physical keyboard. I text a lot and find that touch keyboards are slow and jittery at best.
Touch pro 2 sounds interesting and I do like the look of the samsung i8910.
This is the problem, so much choice and so many differences between phones.
My okta touch is doing better atm. Were there any rom upgrades for it?

There have been some issued over the past year, I think there may have even been an upgrade form WinMo6 to 6.1. What version are you running?

Im running rom version 3.00.781.4
Im running 6.1 I believe. But where do i check that.
Last I heard a rom was issued but there were problems with losing call and net capabilities

Try xda-developers forum and see whats there in the way of ROMs, bound to plenty, including lots of unofficial ones with better performance and features.

there's a big old world out there for the 5800 owner - forums, apps, Ovi app store.

Does all you'd expect of a decent touch screen smartphone and then some. Quickoffice works well on it and there is Opera if you don't like the default browser.
There's a new Firmware coming within the next couple of weeks that should give the 5800 the best of the Nokia touch interface with homescreen widgets etc and kinetic scrolling (if that's important to you). I've had LG touchscreen phones and found them limited and frustrating...but nice to look at.

i would go for the 5730 over the 5800, practically the same phone but the 5730 has a slide out qwerty keyboard which is way better than onscreen touch qwerty imho.
