In a private sale of used goods on Facebook.  You have no obligation but to be honest.  You didn't misrepresent so you have done nothing wrong.

This is well outside the jurisdiction of the police.

IME when people get aggressive like this, it's because they have something to hide.  For example, they dropped the phone.

I'd be telling the person you have no obligations to them, if they believe they have a dispute, then the disputes tribunal is the correct channel for that.  I'd also be telling them if they continue to harass you with aggressive messages, you'll be referring the matter to the police.  That is the civil response.

The police often take threatening messages seriously.

richms:

Someone I know who used to sell games consoles that were modded had issues with parts swapping so started to use UV ink and a stamp to ID parts on it.

Really the drama with facebook scammers when selling is so bad that I can understand why people just throw so much out. That people are prepared to screw someone over with a phone only worth $300 shows how pathetic they are

These days I just take a photo and post on the local facebook group stating its on the footpath outside this address "first in first served". I have no interest in dealing with muppets for $100 and its better than taking it to the dump.

@iamwilliam Interested to hear what happened on this?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
