ajc153: Ah ok, good feedback, thanks. Did you use any particular provider to do that? I dont like these recurring revenue models, but there doesnt seem to be a free or one off way to do it?

I have set up static DNS on my new 2015 Samsung telly. This is how:
1. Temporarily disable DHCP in in your router. (or if you are using wired network and have a separate switch unplug the LAN port on the router)
2. go to network set up
3. Telly will report unable to connect to internet an ask if you want to do manual set up
4. go into manual IP setup (any time after this you can plug your router back in)
5. leave IP address as DHCP (if you want to)
6. Change DNS to static and enter unotelly DNS server
7 Save and done
If you are using a wired connection (I am) you must have the cable connected to something in order for it to begin the setup.

Step 1:
Press the Menu button on your remote.
Step 2:
Access the following options: Menu > Smart Hub > Reset Smart Hub.
Step 3:
Enter your PIN number to reset Smart Hub.
Step 4:
Press the Smart Hub button on your remote.
Step 5:
Proceed with Samsung's steps until you reach the Terms and Conditions.
Step 6:
Please press the following on your Remote in this exact order: Forward, 2, 8, 9, Rewind.
Step 7:
Select your country.
