ajc153: Ah ok, good feedback, thanks. Did you use any particular provider to do that? I dont like these recurring revenue models, but there doesnt seem to be a free or one off way to do it?

I used some discount code for dns4me and it cost me $22 for the whole year. (discount code came from geekzone thread)
If you found a free model, they'd probably need to inject ads into your DNS stuff.

Works fine with my samsung TV (set the DNS in router for all devices)

ajc153: Hi thanks for the links, that interface they are presenting is last years, the software I have is completely different. You dont have the option to modify or even see the DNS setting.

I have set up static DNS on my new 2015 Samsung telly. This is how:

1. Temporarily disable DHCP in in your router. (or if you are using wired network and have a separate switch unplug the LAN port on the router)

2. go to network set up

3. Telly will report unable to connect to internet an ask if you want to do manual set up

4. go into manual IP setup (any time after this you can plug your router back in)

5. leave IP address as DHCP (if you want to)

6. Change DNS to static and enter unotelly DNS server

7 Save and done

If you are using a wired connection (I am) you must have the cable connected to something in order for it to begin the setup.

Thank you for that. I bought a Samsung smart tv last year and noticed the DNS settings. I don't need them now, but might considering using them when global mode disappears.

Hmm I have changed the DNS, but I cant find the process to get into the TV settings to change the region. So its no working yet!

Ok found the process to change the TV to US.

Step 1:

Press the Menu button on your remote.

Step 2:

Access the following options: Menu > Smart Hub > Reset Smart Hub.

Step 3:

Enter your PIN number to reset Smart Hub.

Step 4:

Press the Smart Hub button on your remote.

Step 5:

Proceed with Samsung's steps until you reach the Terms and Conditions.

Step 6:

Please press the following on your Remote in this exact order: Forward, 2, 8, 9, Rewind.

Step 7:

Select your country.

Now I have an issue that the smart hub wont let me download apps... says its being updated, not sure what is going on there.

If your sole aim is to get US Netflix and you are using a DNS provider set to the US, then you don't need to change the country for the smart hub. The Netflix app on the NZ hub should automatically access US content. It's a bit more complex if you want to access BBC iplayer but you haven't mentioned that.

Hi there, I needed to change it to US to get the Netflix content on my TV.

Current issue is I cant download new apps though.

Mate, just did what you suggested, provided I download the app in NZ DNS, then change to US DNS, its fine. Wont download the app with US DNS... thanks for the tip.
