I agree it can be a personal thing, and the Mazdas system is okay, just so much that could be improved on. Losing the what playing screen when in navigation is also an annoyance for me, becuase if you have a dedicated old style radio with it's own screen, you can always see what is playing.

Mazda has voice controls too, but it is very poor. About the only thing that works is 'Navigate Home'.

The new Mazda system is quite different...

Carplay is obviously a different kettle of fish and the wide-screen display is very nice.

I can always see what's playing while using navigation, but not on the HUD.

Then again, if it's my music I tend to have a pretty good idea what I'm listening to, just saying.

Pretty impressed with my new Forester. A lot of bang for the buck in terms of equipment, safety etc.

CrashAndBurn: Is this the 7 seat? If yes, how do you find the 3rd row seat?

Yes, but I'd say it's more of a 5+2 seater than a 7 seater. The 3rd row is pretty tight, but usable. If you had kids that were using it would probably be OK, but teenagers or adults would probably be pretty uncomfortable for long or regular rides in the back row.

I got it over the regular one because those extra seats will come in handy on occasion, like when we have family visiting, but won't be in regular use. Also gives a good amount more boot space over the standard Tiguan with the 3rd row down as it's about 21cm longer than the 5 seater.

Despite being just shy of 1800kg, it will still do 0-100 in 6.8 seconds, so it's good fun, and uses less fuel than the Mazda 6 I replaced which was nowhere near as sporty.

The 5 seater will do 0-100 in 6.5 seconds, which is exactly the same time as a MK7 GTI which it borrows the engine from. The Tiguan was pretty much the only non-luxury SUV I drive that didn't feel underpowered. I looked at an Audi Q5 but just could not justify the price or compromise on options/feature I got in the Tiguan. But even though it's not quite an Audi, it is still a very luxurious car which so much tech. None of the non-euro cars I looked at came close in terms of how well they drove or luxury, despite being not that far behind in price.

Are they using the same maths as for diesel tests? 🤪

Geektastic: Are they using the same maths as for diesel tests? 🤪

What I did find interesting is that here is Australia, Volkswagen have pulled diesel engines from essentially their entire passenger fleet. The only passenger vehicle they now sell with a diesel engine option is the new Toureg.

Guess the sales on the diesels took a pretty hard hit following dieselgate so now they don't bother.

It's funny how things change from place to place. In the UK, AFAICT, the only Forester model on sale is the e-Boxer hybrid version, not even an option yet in NZ!

Even more crazy is the UK price - equivalent to NZ$80,000!

Plus they are probably not able to meet the requirements, as evidenced by their cheating.

The Holden Equinox may be a good SUV, but the Holden brand is under a financial cloud. If (when) GM pulls the pin on Holden and ceases operations, what will be implication for support, parts or resale?

You seem to always bag Holden whenever someone suggests this make as an option. What's your angle? If Holden is under a financial cloud then so is GM.

GM are not likely to walk away from the Australasian market. For the last 30 years or so other than the Commodore (up till 2018) all Holdens have been sourced from other GM marques. For example the Equinox is sold in the North America as  Chev. Whether or not the Holden name continues long term is largely irrelevant.. Personally I think GM will keep the name for this region due to the strong ties the name has with Australasia.

GM will retain their presence here and along with that the back up and support for any vehicles sold under the various GM marques including Holden.

I think your comments are unfounded scaremongering.

This didn't age well...

There is the Mazda CX30 which is due in NZ sometime soon, it slots in between the CX3 and CX5 - https://www.zoomzoom.co.nz/autumn-2019/mazda-cx30

There is a MX30 coming at some point which is basically a CX30 EV
