Just got myself a Samsung JU7500 series 4k TV.

I have it setup to my computer that runs GTX970 outputting HDMI 2.0 at Native 4K 60Hz 8bit color Full range RGB color. The 4:4:4 chroma tests I've done seem to be fine on my set.

Now, where can I find some contents to watch in 4K? Netflix was a total disappointment, theres no contents and only a handful of really old movies that aren't even shot with 4k gear.

I've just purchased a Sony 75" 4K TV (KD-75X8500C). The picture is stunning, it does a great job of 'upscaling' with Bluray and Sky HD, and especially using US based Netflix 4K content - basically any viable HD and UHD source I can find. But, I'm not going to recommend that you buy one until either Sony (or you lovely people on this forum) can help me solve an audio sync issue with digital audio out from the TV.

For any external source (Sky, Bluray, etc) the sound is in sync using the TV speakers or analog out (3.5mm stereo jack). And if I use a soundbar or amplifier to split the audio and video (TV only has to process video), everything stays perfectly in sync. But for any source internal to the TV (freeview, netflix, or anything app driven from AndroidTV), audio only remains in sync using an analog output (TV speakers or 3.5mm jack). Using either the HDMI ARC or digital optical out, audio is delayed by approx 300-500ms and arrives after the video. There is no option in the TV settings to adjust the amount of audio delay from the digital output, it's almost like it is preset. So wether you wish to take a 'minimalist' approach and just use this TV with a soundbar, or with a massive 7.1 theatre system, any digital audio sent from the TV via HDMI ARC or digital out will be delayed. The only option is to use a 3.5mm analog cable out of the headphone plug.

FYI, troubleshooting has encompassed swapping cables, signals, sources, inputs, etc. All software updated, Sony 'service menu' settings checked (no options there). Even went back to JB HiFi to see if we could replicate the problem with another TV - we did. The Sony helpdesk had nothing except for "is the software up to date?" and I'm waiting for a call back from someone more senior at Sony to see if they have any solutions. And it's annoying as hell, so any thoughts on how to fix this are welcome.

So here is my 49X830c and its very hot edges, I wouild say that the edges bleed sits somewhere beween these two photographs

Not great, it seems to be worsenig too and is especially noticable with films in traditional widescreen format (read: all films)

Is this a warranty issue?  I really think it is.   It's bad really bad on the two left corners.

Hi I brought this in

works a treat on my TV the audio isn't Dolby True HD or DTS HD Master but pretty good and the 4K content looks stunning. In my opinion it has the best version of Forest Gump I have seen to date.

An update on my previous post about my brand new Sony 75" 4K TV (KD-75X8500C). The audio fault seems to be an issue with Android software, and all of Sony's latest smart TVs are running on Android software. JB HiFi replicated the fault on several different Sony TVs using an Android TV OS. This issue is also being talked about on several UK tech forums (but I had hoped that it was isolated). The outcome appears to be that any Sony Smart TV running android is going to suffer from a 250ms audio delay from a digital output (HDMI or optical). Which is managable with external signal sources when you are just using the TV for video, but not managable when using any of the Smart TV apps such as Netflix and sending audio to an amplifier via a digital output.

Sony NZs official position according to JB HiFi is that "they are unaware of any audio issues with the Android TV system". Although the local JB HiFi have said they won't be recommending these TVs to anyone, and I'm sure there will be more discussion to come. In the meantime, JB HiFi are going to swap my Sony for a similar spec Samsung 4K TV instead.

Advice for new 4K TV: Don't buy a Sony Smart TV with AndroidTV software, unless you only plan to use it as a video display with external signal sources.

Yes that is a warranty issue. You have a defective screen. Return it. Now.

That pack looks decent for $69, what format are the movies in? Can I play them back via my PC?

Macuser - Thanks for the heads up! 😀

New firmware installed plus a full factory reset to remove any gremlin settings that might be lurking. The issue isn't fixed but it has definitely improved. Although the release notes made no mention of an audio fix and it could just be a coincidence, progress is still progress.

I would estimate the audio delay at around 100ms now, based on visual comparison from a calibration disk and the echo test using both TV speakers and amplifier via digital out. That makes the error negligible during dialogue and for most other soundtrack elements. But it is still apparent for abrupt or percussive sounds, such as a gunshot, door slamming or someone being slapped across the face.

I intend to keep talking with Sony for now. Hopefully they can keep working to resolve the issue.

Does your Sony TV guide that you access using TV remote guide button (not the free view plus guide) show the correct images for the channel? Mine shows a bunch of stock images that have nothing to do with the show. My TV is also slow and freeview plus often doesn't activate without a restart. Going to factory reset my TV now to see if things improve

Looks like Sony's 4K android TVs can now do 4K60 4:4:4 via new firmware update...maybe. Not sure if it was my cable that wasn't allowing me or something else.

It mentions 4K60 4:4:4 in the UI but not in documentation (the firmware was only release today though)

EDIT: Ha! Confirmed in documentation!

Can't copy and paste from phone it seems...search '4:4:4' frequently asked questions on support page for 49x8300c and look for can't play 3840x2160/60p.

Guess I need a new HDMI cable...

I'm seeing the same stock images for NZ based channels, even with US/UK shows that the EPG should recognise. But if you look at listings for locked satellite channels such as National Geographic, you might see something different.

I'm guessing that whatever data source is used to populate the EPG isn't configured to interpret NZ based content (yet?). I'm using MySky so haven't really played around with Freeview plus etc apart from testing the audio delay. Have you tried the Sony TV Sideview app as an EPG alternative?
