To many times local retailers have listed a book/dvd/bluray/collectable on their site and when I have ordered I have then found it has a massive backorder and I have to go thru the hassle of cancelling the order etc.
Amazon is prettymuch a sure thing as to it arriving when they say it will. Why would I bother with a local place that charges more for a worse level of service?
afe66: I don't buy from UK Amazon because it's cheaper, often I find it easier. Release dates for films I'm interested in often on blu ray before or very shortly after film shown here. When I've tried nz sites they often are 2 weeks to deliver so just get from UK.
Probably bought 20 in last 18months , all turned up fine and undamaged. Maybe I'm lucky. Mind you never had issues with DVD box sets either.

How many do you buy at once? I wonder what impact volume has on packaging effort. Would 5 CDs merit a proper box? I always assumed that it would be worse because they'd just stuff several items into the same type of useless one-layer cardboard sleeve, and the things would just grind against each other a make it worse.
3-4 at a go so get a bigger box with plastic balloons in them to fill up the volume.

(But 4 blu rays probably take up more room the 5 CDs)
CD cases are also made out of a stupid choice of plastic compared to DVD and blueray ones, so damage is much more likly with it. Dont get why the case design hasnt been sorted in the 30+ years they have had them.
