night: Yeah GraphEdit plays the recorded show perfectly, so I guess that indicates a codec issue with other players as you suggested?

Thanks for the help btw, much appreciated :)
No worries. We've all been there before; & some will, again. No doubt.

Have you taken snapshot images of your boot drive during the os install process? If so, then it would be quicker & less frustration to just reinstall an earlier image. I would suggest going back to before any of your codec installs & before MP. If not, I seriously suggest you get one. It will save a fortune in time in the days/years to come.

I didn't see if you mentioned installing a codec pack. If you have, don't! Just install what you need. Packs are more trouble than not for most people.

Heh yeah, I am 100% against codec packs :) Have been for years haha

I don't install codecs as I use VideoLan (VLC) to play my videos (uses codec built into it or whatever). So all that leaves as possible problems are FFDShow, PowerDVD, TVersity codec pack (now uninstalled), DivX (now uninstalled), and Gordian Knot (now uninstalled)

Funnily enough after the uninstalls, VLC 0.9.1 beta seems to play the TS files ok :)

So that's at least a step on the progress-side of things, now I need to wait patiently for conversion/encoding to be sorted

Thanks !
