Hi thanks Insane.

I'm actually having trouble with this modem.

When I try to delete the existing setups, it gives me the Yes/No dialog prompt, but does nothing after pressing yes.

If I try set up a new connection, when I press Apply/Save it gives me ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE /'Server closed connection without sending data'. 
Same if I try modifying an existing connection.

I tried pressing the hardware reset button, but that doesn't help.

Alright, we're back in business, though still not connected to the internet.
The problem I was having with the modem was that I was holding the button in for long enough, you need to hold it in for a full 15 seconds till the lights start blinking.

So here are my settings





So that's that, still no luck...

If the modem is the only box you are using you will probably need to enable nat and the firewall on the connection

For 12.4dB attenuation you have a horribly low sync rate. That's almost certainly poor internal wiring affection your connection causing line stubs/reflections. You definitely need to sort this out by getting a master filter installed which Chorus can do for $199 (or free if you move to any ISP offering VDSL2).

I'd be really interested to see a bit loading graph of that connection.

The master filter is not free, as it's hidden in the on-going monthly contracted term of the ISP and/or part taken up in their initial sign up fee.

A master filter is a permanent fixture right? (ie it will remain at the house when I leave).

A master filter is a permanent fixture right? (ie it will remain at the house when I leave).

Yes, it is permanent - a proper VDSL install involves 3 modifications to phone wiring:
1. a VDSL filter is fitted at the External Termination Point (ETP) where the phone line enters the house
2. a new Cat 6 cable runs from the filter to one new (or re-purposed) phone jack on the wall*
3. the old in-house POTS phone wiring is unchanged and is connected to the "other side" of the VDSL filter

* so your VDSL wiring runs directly to your modem, isolated from your horrible old wiring.

There will be no cosmetic change to the house. Obviously someone needs to be home for the install.

Nah they didn't. I just came home from work and it was synced.
