Looking like about 2 weeks for the cousins. Will be getting onto snap for my sisters place tomorrow, but it may take time since the driveway is shared, even tho the cable isnt going under the driveway.
I'm in an apartment in AKL CBD, I signed up for UFB back in Jan, before I even started I got into body corp to see what they had to say, they gave consent within a week of me ordering UFB which I was pretty stoked with. I thought the BC/consent would be the biggest hurdle.
By late May the chorus techs showed up one day and installed all the gear, cabinet in the basement, distribution points on each floor etc. I was expecting the email from my isp any day saying it was ready but nothing... I spoke to the the building manager last week who said the whole thing had been an absolute disaster, he was told the install would only take 3 days which turned out to be 3 weeks.
But the real surprise was he said apparently chorus has run out of space in their High St exchange for our building. If what he said is true then I can't imagine what the chorus guys are thinking, spending all that money fitting out our building just to find they didn't make sure there was room in the exchange. Now 5 months after consent was given we have no idea when we will get UFB, its depressing walking past the chorus gear in the hallway everyday not being able to use it.
I'm sorry - I know this kind of thing is very frustrating - but I just have to laugh when I read about people having trouble getting UFB installed.
Even though I can walk to the Queensgate mall in Lower Hutt from my house in less than 15 minutes - so not exactly "the middle of nowhere" - our street is not going to have fibre installed for 12-24 months (Chorus map: UFB fibre up to 200Mbps between Jul-2016 and Jul-2017). And we are in the process of trying to sell so that we can buy a house on the other side of the harbour in Eastbourne where the date is up to four and a half years away (Jul-2019 and Dec-2019).
Took us 8 months and there was already a fibre duct to the front door.. Even after they had ran the physical cable inside it took them a few weeks to actually connect it!
Wheelbarrow01 was able to shed some insight on what's happening. Being in a multi-tenanted building makes everything slower, so I just have to hope that we get some progress from Chorus soon~
We (above my pay grade) have been fighting with another telco to get a _copper_ business internet line for 8 months. Basically just shrug their shoulders because "it's in Christchurch".
