The way I read the OP was that following a reset the wifi works fine. After a period it will stop, then after a reset it will work fine again for a while.

I would have thought that this would point to a fault, not interference? I might have read it wrong though.

What firmware are you on?

To me, it points to a memory leak.....and the router is doing a job with a bit of memory...a bit more memory...a bit more memory (not freeing enough to be sustainable) and eventually whatever table / resource it's using can't get any more memory......and it just fails - partially or completely (memory leaks can be like that). It also gets slower before failing. Seen that.

A reset clears the memory and you're good to go until it fills up again.

I think at this point it might just be easier to buy a brand new router because the rest of the family can't wait.

Is the tplink archer c2 any good? (and how does it compare to the hg659b?)

Consider doing something like Linuxluver does. Use your 659b as the modem but get something decent as the actual wifi access point:

Edit: had bad experience with a flaky tplink consumer router long ago.

Most of those cheap routers suffer memory leaks. I suspect it's a design feature to force an upgrade among people who want something more reliable.

I have tried cheap Linksys and cheap TP-Link and they were both crap. neither lasted more than 2 weeks. I literally threw them out.

My D-Link Saipan was $400....but I reboot every 3 months whether it needs it or not. It's proven to be very stable.

Eh, went to a spark store and they told me a different number to call and i ended up getting a replacement.

Anywho i don't really expect the new router to last long either but it'll stop the rest of my family complaining for now, ill take a look at the router thread and see what it says.
