Loftus: Whilst technically possible to triangulate the approximate location of a CDMA handset, the accuracy is largely limited by how many network sites the handset can "see". The systems that perform this triangulation, originally developed by Bell Labs, are largely geared up for identifying problem locations with the network, rather than finding individual devices, although we have been able to assist with missing trampers, and similar, in the past.
