My I-mate Jasjam, with WM6 Telstra software works. Another Jasjam, I bought for parts when display failed, has got Vodafone NZ software, WM5, did not work with XT network.

Hi Guys, not sure if this is the right place to ask so forgive me if its not, but my mate has just emailed me from Singapore and want to bring a nice new HTC phone home. He asked if he could just pop a sim card into it upon return? Could it be that easy? (he asked) . My knowledge is pretty limited and wondered if anyone here could give me some pointers as to what he can or cannot get working on Telecoms XT network and what simple technical specs he might quote to make sure he got the right thing. - Many Thanks.

www.phonesdirect.co.nz has the XT model and a lot of others which I presume would work.
