sadamhu: itxtme - breaking a contract would be breaking the law. So it would be unwise to put such a statement into a contract. The only legal way, which I think sounds dodgy is to give the customer 1 months notice, then pull the plug.

EDIT - Farcus - good finally something to actually read about the contract. I just couldnt find it myself, so
therefore I thought I could have a case. So just like Zippity says, I just have to man up to it. HAHAHAHA!

THIS COUNTRY SUCKS, TIME TO MOVE TO AMERICA!!! AMERICA!!!

Ummm its not "breaking" the contract - merely following a term of the contract that you agreed to...

Actually average Internet speeds in America are lower than New Zealand, IIRC. The peak speeds are good, but on average...

(The birth rights to broadband in Finland, does that apply to immigrants as well? Or only those that was born there? Otherwise, Finland would be a good place to go for highspeed broadband, South Korea is another country, then Singapore from what I read)

if a tenant has a fixed term rental agreement - e.g. 12 months - then the landlord can only break the contract "in extenuating circumstances" i was told. its a lot easier for a tenant to break out of a fixed contract than a landlord.

The main thing I asked was "Is this legal?", since I couldnt find the information myself. Also Telecom can't
actually give out information or links through email without going through bs. But I had the answer given to
me here, of which I am thankful.

So now I'm over that, and am more interested in the fun facts written on the packaging
of my partners sanitary pads... ...OOO Chickens can run at a maximum speed of 15km!

This would be a class action lawsuit if this sh*t were pulled in the states either that or people would rise up against the company involved damaging the companies reputation; a PR nightmare.
Alas this is New Zealand and we kiwis are just a bunch of softies and we will let Telecom walk all over us just like they have been doing for years and will continue doing so.

Completely off topic, but to clarify. In Finland you don't have a "birth right" to broadband. You have a "legal right" to broadband. That's the same as Telecom's obligations under the TSO, meaning they had to provide telephone lines to everyone, with a minimum quality.

Class action against carriers in the USA who have changed plans has been very popular (ie introducing caps on previously unlimited plans). I'm not aware of a single one that has been succesful.

Just because you can sue doesn't mean you'll win or that you even have a basis for doing so.

Yes - a company does nothing wrong but because consumers don't like it they try and blackmail the company into meeting their demands by threatening them with a class action for zillions of dollars.

That's the sort of country I want to live in.. Yeah right.
