kaljames79: yeah you would rather live in a country where companies walk all over the consumers because nobody will put up a fight; great country mate.
Bottom line is Kiwis as consumers are pansies who think being raped in the wallet is the norm.

then you should migrate overseas and see how is life there.  much less of this welfare state for sure.

It is sad that telecom will discontinue BigTIme service.  It is hard now for me to believe any future advertisement or offer they are giving to the customers. Frown

Even better my cell will be off contract - i won't have to give them another cent more than i have too

New home, BB, and cell package ready to go. Took less than 24 hrs, and looking at saving $$$.00 per month.

Funny thing is when Big Time rolled into town, some heralded it as the coming of the internet and how VFNZ were lagging. Oblivious to the fact that the plans are uneconomic, unsustainable, and the same people championing it, were the same people sucking a terra a month, choking up the system.

Yes exactly, they were able to suck over a terrabyte a month by bypassing the shaping and going fullspeed even during peaktime. Which is why they were saying it was the best thing since sliced bread.
The ones complaining were trying to download normally not bypassing the shaping.

One thing though, I don't think they will be able to do it anywhere else as the other ISP's don't have the bandwidth and speeds telecom has..
So the terrabyters have gone and shot themselves in the foot and the rest of us as well !

Thanks for that ...

And how does that not make telecom the best part of incompetent for letting it happen?

They weren't incompetent for letting it happen,
They were incompetent for not having a fair use policy in place that they could use to cut the terrabyters if they needed to.

And yes I know it wouldn't be true unlimited with that policy in place, but then what is unlimited/all you can eat in this world of the internet..

But then If I was walking down the road minding my own biz and you shot me, does that mean its my fault because I was walking down the road or your fault for shooting me ?

So has anyone been able to break contract without penalty because Telecom will no longer provide the service people signed up for?
