aadawson: Thanks Cameron, any assistance would be apprecaited.  The Chorus BCC tool just shows we're on an exchange, so I assume that just entiltes us to slow ADSL.  Couldnt figure out how to drill down lower and search to the cabinet

Just received word from Chorus and unfortunately there is no official plans to make changes to the cabinet you are connected to.  So while it may happen in the future there is nothing currently in the pipeline to look forward to.

Thanks for checking Cameron.  Be a fair while before it gets any better; I guess the reality is that it will continue to degrade too.

I’m thinking of hanging the VoIP router off a 3G modem; any comments on what performance might look like?

I've tried VFNZ 3G with my own open vfx service and its the same if not worse than a mobile call.
I suspect packet priority was the issue on the connection, not to mention the signal was average to say the least.

Looks like I jumped the gun or Chorus did,

They just told me there is work in the pipeline to occur before mid 2013.

Might be stating the obvious here but would you not consider going back to POTS? Obviously calling rates/rental are more expensive but if comms is important and your broadband is unusable for VoIP wouldn't it be a good move?
