Yeah. It is such a shame that in a place like NZ we still have those kinds of issues. Although my ceiling had just been re-insulated and new "power wiring" had been put in I was not made aware that probably phone line should also be changed as previous owner said that internet and phone services were working ok.
unfortunately, everyone's idea of a good line is different.
wiring in my flat was "perfect" "gives excellent speeds"... i move in, move my vdsl connection with me, to down the track find riptie wire (speaker wire) being used for the phone-line, of which it was ran through another property. clearly not optional by any respects for a VDSL connection.
ended up taking 4 weeks to have a proper vdsl installation done, inwhich the bad wiring was replaced (atlest on the dsl side)
the wonders of classic "shel be right" building in NZ, slap up a wire, phone works must be perfect!
