Dolts: 100/10 is Cable isn't it?

I am on 100/20 UFB and have no issues. Seems like a cable issue?

It's 100/10 UFB cable.

I see, Vodafone call it UFB - Cable and UFB - Fibre. I have just associated UFB with Fibre.

Anywho, there are no problems on our Fibre connection so it looks like a Cable issue, hopefully someone else with Cable can post some results.

I watch Twitch streamers quite a bit so I hope your issue gets fixed soon!

Thanks. The lion's share of last months data usage was from watching twitch tv. I have had great throughput from twitch.tv in the past. If a guy with Vodafone DSL can get better throughput than I, then it had better be just a routing issue, and fixable.

for clarity on GZ, ild use the word "Cable", "UFB" will be taken as fibre.

IMO Vodafone shouldnt call cable ultra fast, as that confuses the naming conventions.

Ild say its certainly fixable, as pointed out i was originally having a slight buffering issue with twitch however some routing changes have happened, and it has improved.

The tracert result looks very different, but there's buffering issues with video streams over 2.8Mbps. That's still 1.5Mbps better than when I began this thread.

If I tracert twitch.tv video servers directly ( video8.lax801.justin.tv, video19.lax01.justin.tv, video30.lax01.justin.tv, video15.lax01.justin.tv, video10.lax01.justin.tv etc.. ) the results are the same as above.

We need a Twitch inbound server in Australia or New Zealand. That would stop dead all the lagging for everyone. Cable or fibre or DSL, Chch or Wellington -- it wouldn't matter. I just found out that Twitch does have an outbound "ingest server" in Sydney, and it's only 43ms away. That's no good to anyone who wants to watch rather than broadcast streams.

So no, it technically isnt required, it does help with some of the problems tcp has by design.

looking at JTVPing i am seeing a sydney node, that 31ms is very nice to see.

Are you giving streams some time to buffer up? i find it takes a good 5~10 mins to build a reasonable buffer to where it will recover from packet drops etc.

I don't think that option is available, nor would it be a good idea as the stream would be grossly out of sync with the online chat. Irrespective of how much data gets buffered at the beginning, the level starts dropping to zero for streams >2.8Mbps.
