I have a Vodem on my Vista Laptop, and when I'm in a 3G coverage area, and sitting still it works fine. I regularly VPN back to the office and RDP into a server session - it works fine for this (in 3G).

In 2G, like dial-up, it blows.

I just wish Vodafone would come and put more 3G cell sites up (I'm based in Napier, and work all round the Bay cities).

I believe that in the Major centres, the Vodem works even faster - haven't tested that though.

Are you using the new Vodem Lite software V3 that lets you lock the vodem to the 3G network

Unsure which version I am running, but I do end up in some areas (Havelock North for example) that do not have 3G coverage.

On the current software click on help and about and this will advise the version
