I also have them both.. the Picture is excellent with vodafone tv but that's about it, its so slow on the remote changing chanels even as someone else said just turning it on and off is slow..oh yea one more thing the Box freezes up every now and then..
I also have the new Sky Box along with a Mysky Box both with the new upgrade, the new box is excellent, and the big plus is the On Demand
Glad I stayed with Sky..

My experience since the last rounds of updates has been positive with the system working well

I got my mother set up with VodaTV over fibre. She doesn't have any complaints, and in my limited experience of it (setting it up and checking it went) it seemed fine. I wouldn't describe the UI/channel changes as super fast, but it didn't seem awful. Picture was good and the UI seemed intuitive.

Err, slightly slower, but massively less expensive.  A fraction of a second slower, $100+ more in the bank account each month ... hmmn... tough choice?

Dolts: We have fibre and the picture quality was fairly garbage. It would also pixelate at random moments.

Not my experience. We have cable in wellington, picture quality is great.

Not sure why our experience was so bad. The picture quality just looked really average to the content I watch through my Roku, and the pixelation was very odd. Might just be an isolated experience to us.

My wife, who knows nothing of tech hates it, like seriously hates it and is always begging to go back to Mysky. The picture is great, and that's the only positive thing I can say. It's so slow, and everything takes so many button presses to do what you want. Do you ever find yourself pushing buttons hard on a remote because for some reason you think it will help? That's how it feels using Vodafone TV. Another thing my wife complains about is that a show on series link also records all the repeats of the show that are played during the night and day. I don't know if its fixed, but at one point it was recording the most recent episode of Shortland street, the rerun late at night, and the old episodes that play during the day. The HDD filled up fast and she would have to delete them one by one.

Also she tells me that she constantly misses the start and end of shows when it records. I now believe she has given up and pretty much just uses on demand TV over the internet.

This was pretty much my experience of V TV when we had it and went back to sky.

Re missing the sta and end of shows... The clock on the box drifts the longer you go between restarts, meaning recording gets munted. Silly I know but still there as a problem.

A weekly restart will address this, ours is every night.

The current firmware 3.8.3 checks in with our time servers often to prevent the clock drifting. Previously it only checked when it was rebooted.

Massively off topic, but just wondering if the VF time servers are public? I currently use the MSL ones at Callaghan Innovation (I am a vodafone customer).

Hi Dylan, is there any planned updates to Vodafone TV, my wife has currently given up on it and now only watches the news live, and anything else on demand on the web. Also, by update, I mean a compete overhaul of the UI and series link to only download the last played shows, not all the repeats.

We used to have major problems with shows being cut off. After several resets, we have had no recent issues (maybe the new firmware is working ok).

Yes it is slow to respond to the remote, yes, series link captures the mid-day repeats as well - however, in comparison with Mysky it is massively less expensive- I'm not sure I would want to throw extra-$$$$$ Sky's way just to speed up the remote?
