grant_k - I looked at all that when i go the vodem. we (wife and I) decided not to bother with phone line.

So that a saving of $50

So $80 (3Gb - $10 extra if we go over) - $50 saving on a fone line.

You get the picture. + we use skype for all our calling which means we don't pay national toll rates etc.

BTW people can we keep on topic please. i asked about Antenna and Passive Repeaters for Vodem, not what the best broadband package is. I was hoping this would be a DIY Thread

I dunno what the connections are between signal strenght and connection speed.

I just usually get 3 bars (every now and then 4) on 3G and was wanting to see if there was away to get it up to 5
(hence my where are the 'Vodafone Cell Site Map/Position List' thread also)

Big kids like to make their toys go better (was gonna say faster - but signal strength is not speed so 'better' will do).

That's a fair request. But when I first read your post I had the clear impression you were actually trying to solve a problem - that we now know doesn't exist at all:

Fizza: I live on North Shore and I get a pretty weak 3G signal inside house (a bit better on the deck outside).
Would really like to up that a bit.

Would be nice if the vodem had an antenna connecter so i could put something up on the roof.

Is the Vodem dropping back to 3G when you move away from the window or is the HSDPA light still staying on?

If I have it on my desk it goes to the light blue, but at the window (big bay window) it stays dark blue always. (not sure on the terms)

My desks only just next to the window though.

Its meant to drop back to 3G you are only allocated a HSDPA channel (radio resources) when required. That is why Vodem LED will flick between blue and Aqua Blue
