equilor11:
i would rather rely on paid wifi than the free one... at least i know i will have access
*Insert big spe*dtest result here*
lxsw20: You would be lucky to have public wifi in the wards. Best bet would be a 2Degrees data stick on the 12GB $99 prepay deal.you quoted the price wrong you have to buy a stick thing for 50$ then you buy extra stuff and it costs around 300 for the 12gb
equilor11: i am just going to use my phone as the wifi / hotspot and upgrade my phone amount that way not wasting $60 for a t stick.....

you dont need a usb 3g modem.
you can buy that $99 deal on any 2degrees sim.
stick that in your phone and tether it to your pc.
Paulthagerous: Hi equilor11,i rang up hospital apaerntly their one is broken
I have replied in your other topic, but having read this one if there isn't one of our Wifi hotspots close enough to you then it may not be suitable - you have to be within fairly close physical proximity for it to work.
Cheers,
Paulthagerous.
nakedmolerat:hamish225: im pretty sure most hospitals have signs everywhere telling you to turn your mobile phone off so im going to guess that means no MBB stick for your laptop either.
AFAIK the reason for no mobile phones at the hospital, they don't want people to talk loud on mobiles and disturbing others. Sitting quietly and use the Internet is no problem at all. At tauranga hospital, EOL which is a local ISP provides paid Internet via wifi.
There is no such things as mobile phones can cause problem. Doctors carry their mobiles everywhere within the hospital.
Paulthagerous: Just as a side note, if any of you are having issues with any of our hotspots please feel free to call up and log it, so that the team can help troubleshoot any issues. The number for them is 0800 500 165.i did ring up the hospital and they said they had issues with theirs on the ground floor
kiwirock:i had my phone with me last time i went in back in march and they did not say nothing at all to me they even let me plug in my phone to charge up.nakedmolerat:hamish225: im pretty sure most hospitals have signs everywhere telling you to turn your mobile phone off so im going to guess that means no MBB stick for your laptop either.

The rules may have changed as it's been a while since I was near an ICU, but the last time I looked they had to be off in an ICU that uses wireless patient monitoring.
But that was about it.
