kiwirock:nakedmolerat:hamish225: im pretty sure most hospitals have signs everywhere telling you to turn your mobile phone off so im going to guess that means no MBB stick for your laptop either.
AFAIK the reason for no mobile phones at the hospital, they don't want people to talk loud on mobiles and disturbing others. Sitting quietly and use the Internet is no problem at all. At tauranga hospital, EOL which is a local ISP provides paid Internet via wifi.
There is no such things as mobile phones can cause problem. Doctors carry their mobiles everywhere within the hospital.
The rules may have changed as it's been a while since I was near an ICU, but the last time I looked they had to be off in an ICU that uses wireless patient monitoring.
But that was about it.
Every doctors in ICU use phone generously. The only thing they don't like is you making noises. You can miss the patient alarm etc.
