Have you used Australian Internet services? The broadband there is really bad. And more expensive when compared to our broadband.

Last time I was there was at work (parent office in Sydney) where we had a 1 Gb/s connection to the Internet, no complaints from me. Last time I lived in Queensland, I was on ADSL2+ as NBN wasn't (and still isn't) available at my address, despite being about 2km from Brisbane CBD. Definitely more than happy with my UFB. Wish our mobile pricing was similar to Australia, that's one thing they do much better than NZ.

@gurumeditation How much is the charge to port an Australian 'landline' (07 xxxx xxxx) number to the service? FAQ says a charge applies but not the price. It's currently connected to a Australian VoIP provider (Siptalk)

Works anywhere, not tied to one location like archaic homeline,
Choice of device, rather than it being provided on an over 100 year old analog twisted pair technology with inband signalling and long call setup times.
Ability to put own gear on the end of the call to manage and/or reject calls based on your own criteria vs the non existent screening that the legacy telcos manage to think is acceptable in this era of every second call being "windows support" or "investment opportunity"
Multiple calls at one time able to happen, so you can redirect calls out to your mobile once your own gear has decided it is someone worth talking to.

That's off the top of my head. I am sure there are more.

Hi Stinger,

It can depend on the number. But if it is a simple Cat-A single number and not a 3rd party port then the cost is $24.40 to port the number over typically. I'd need to get the specific number though to verify. You can email the details through to support@hero.co.nz if you wish and we can get a firm quote on that.
