I also haven't won a prize, but then again, I prefer not to waste my money on Lotto.
Booze is much more satisfying.
I need lotto prize money to afford booze :p. Can't get much booze for $2.40.
mattwnz: I know someone who had 50k in bonus bonds, but only won the odd $20. I told them they should put it into a high online savings account, and the interest they make could then go to a weekly $6 lotto ticket where they would be making more money from the interest, and would still have a chance of winning $1 million. So far using the online lotto they have had a few 5th and 6th division wins, using the same numbers each week, so they are better off. But anyone who actually puts all their hopes into winning one day are kidding themselves. You usually have to work hard to make money, money doesn't come that easy.
MaxLV:
Tell that to the supermarket shelf stacker in Hamilton who only had $10 in his bank account on Friday, that turned into $26 Million on Saturday night. Only downside (that I can see) is that on Friday no woman would look twice at him, Sunday morning he he's NZ's most eligible bachelor..
Poor bugger...
Then there's the 20 something student who bought a big Wednesday ticket on a whim, knew she had won a 'small' prize on Thursday, took her ticket into the local Newtown lotto shop to get it checked and pick up her winnings...
All $7 Million dollars worth.

Yes, but you do have more chance getting hit by a car crossing the road, the odds are terrible. But you do have to be in it to win it. Hence why there is really no harm in getting a ticket once a week, as long as people aren't spending heaps on it. But it is usually the poorest people who spend the most on it it seems.
Those people with nothing, that suddenly win that sort of money often end up having major problems down the track, and a lot do lose it all.
