sbiddle: Courier Post and NZ Post are two different products.

Two different products maybe, but same ownership.

From CourierPost's website:

CourierPost is part of Express Couriers Limited, which also encompasses the Pace and Contract Logistics brands. Express Couriers Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of New Zealand Post.

This accounts for NZ Post advertising CourierPost on their website ;)

CourierPost left a "Sorry we missed you" notice in my mailbox yesterday. This is very curious, because I was home all day - and spent the entire day working on the landing outside my front door - I can even see the mailbox from there.

I thought they were same outfit as here NZ Post deliver items sent by CourierPost. Only exception is if it is too large or too heavt for the push bike then it will arrive by van later

If you get anything delivered from china or hong kong, I always find that it is NZ post posites that have to deliver it, rather than their courier company. Even though their coruer company have full resorces to delviver it, such as more space in their vehicale, and their vehicle can be left unattended while they get a signature. I have found that NZ posites will now never deliver a parcel to me, as it requires a signature, and they are not permitted to leave their bike unattended on the street. So essentially they don't have the ability to deliver items as they should. So I always have to wait the next day to pick the ite up. Where it is even more annoying, is that they send it to a post shop in another suburb, even though I literally live across the road from a post shop. For some reason it never gets sent to that one. Most unsatisfactory, but I guess it is one reason why NZ posts postie service is on the way out.

I have had that problem a lot lately, they don't even bother coming through the gate. I have a security camera, and I just saw them put the card in the letter box.
Where it is even more frustrating is when they don't even leave a card. I had an item sitting at my local post shop for 2 weeks because I wasn't aware it had been delivered there, and thought the shop hadn't sent the goods.

Just an other way of Charging for a Service they have already been paid for (i.e. delivering your parcel). Beside they have closed our local Post Shop.

NZ post don't deliver Parcels to Apartment Buildings. In our case their delivery depot is over 4 km away & 2 Bus rides to get too. as w have found out they wont even leave parcels at a prearranged Address - not even when the Address Label says it may be left there.

just get them to send your parcels by email!

Seems like some one should be offering a dropoff/collection service for parcels, service stations maybe as there open late anyway when I lived rural we used to do this as we knew the owners
