So, then one day later, the item had not been collected - from a letterbox. Obviously so they did not cramp your style by wanting to knock on the door and collect it I guess.

And you throw a tantrum over that? Couldn't just have left it there for another day or so?

I don't want to pay $5.00 petro to drive to the post office to post a $5.00 auction that would be just silly, the buyer never take the initiative to make one contact after the sale, I had to do all the contacts.

As for the pick up from the letterbox that is what she wanted I don't like leaving items in the letter box because anyone can take the item do not pay the money then claim there was nothing in the letter box.

As for the payment the buyer did not pay for the item she was suppose to pay cash even though in my conditions I say no cash but I cooperated in this one.

She was the one who did not keep her side of the trade I fulfilled my part she did not end of the story.

When I checked her feedback history I find is her habit not to complete her trades with other traders.

People need to be honest if they change their mind, it's simple just let me know so I can relist the item, if they having difficulty with the money or day and time for pick up just message let me know so we can sort out something, but to make no contact then finally set a date and not turn up, now that is not okay, that is childish.

Left it there for another day? she did not contact me the day she was suppose to pick up, not the next day and not the next day, on the second day I requested a refund this was after trade me send me the feedback reminder message.

some sellers and buyers are straight up irresponsible, rude and immature they don't care if you have already paid as in the case of some sellers I came across and some buyers just complete disappeared after they win the auction no contact, no address I have to trace them and even that it takes time to get back to me.

I never said she paid for the item, she did not pay for the item, although my conditions was no cash but I agreed to make it easy on her, so yeah she did not pay for it, if she did I would just leave it until she can find time to pick it up it's now hers not mine.

If your listing was pick up only and had no paid postage option fair enough they are unreasonable.

If you had paid postage listed and had some obscure message in the description that you wouldn't post for <$5 then I think you got what you deserved(being mucked about), set a price you are happy to sell for and meet the obligations as a seller.

it was at the first line at the very top " no post for sales under $5.00 and put "pick up only" because I knew there were some people who will still ask if you can post even though it says. pick up only.

gzt: I would not bother posting bad feedback for an issue about buyer of a $1 item. Neutral at best.

I would feel like giving you tit for tat bad feedback for that. If you are concerned about keeping your own feedback high, don't tempt people to retaliate over nothing.

I never said the person paid for the item :( she was suppose to pick up the item from the letterbox and leave the money in the letter box.

I said in the auction no cash but she wanted to pay cash so I agreed. no one in their right mind will take someone's money then place bad feedback

Please be clear " the buyer did not pay for the item" she was suppose to leave the money in the letter box

If it got stolen in the meantime, then that would be my fault for not picking it up. But as a seller I would just email the buyer to say it is still in the box for pickup at any time. I think the op is a bit trigger happy with the negative feedback button. I have been trading since Trademe started and have no bad feedback and have only given bad feedback once, when the buyer decided to not follow through and then ignored emails and ended up being a true time waster. However I never bother selling at a dollar reserve as I suspect you do end up getting a different type of buyer.

two days after she did not pick up and no message to say when or whether or not she still want the item is irresponsible especially when I have to trace her to remind her about her auction and to set the day for pick up.

as for $1.00 auctions I am done with that many agreed on the same thing.

It was because I had purchased something which I discovered was faulty and could see damage on it, and the seller disputed it when it arrived, and then said it wasn't damaged or faulty when they sent it which was rubbish, because on closer inspection of the photos on the listing, I could see the damage. I thus left negative feedback, and they then left retaliatory feedback. This was at a time when trademe didn't do anything about retaliatory feedback, and even though I complained to trademe about this, they said that they don't get involved and wouldn't remove it. But I eventually got it removed as they eventually cancelled the persons account. But it can affect peoples reputation, especially if you have only got a few trades under your belt. So is it worth leaving negative feedback? Probably not worth the strife it may bring, but certainly I would never do it for someone not picking up something they had already paid for. Good point. As for the buyer paid for the item that is wrong information I noticed everyone is mentioning it. The buyer have not paid for the item, she was suppose to pay cash as she requested. I would never do such a thing to someone who already paid for the item it's bizarre.

Did you give the person a chance to pick up after their car was repaired? I mean, if someone said that to me I'd just give them the benefit of the doubt and wait till they can pick up, I most definitely would not rush or pressure someone who is in that situation.. especially over $1

On the other hand, the other party might think it's only a dollar let's not stress about it coz there were other bigger things to stress?

That's why I would avoid bothering to sell for $1, as it also means you are valuing your time as worth nothing. I don't bother sell anything for less than $10. Anything worth less I give away, or throw out.

I believe the main intention of the $1 reserve is to either get something big and heavy removed, for next to nothing. eg an old CRT, which would cost you to dispose of. Or the $1 reserve is to generate interest in something that you eventually hope will sell for a lot more.

i won't sell anything under $50 unless the item is too big to donate or dispose

Personally I have found if you want something gone and it's not worth selling, Freecycle is a better way to go. The stuff will often go to someone who can really use it, and I've had few problems overall (eg. with people not collecting). Often times you'll have a backlog of willing recipients so if one falls through you can just go to the next.
