To mike Murphey,

Cheers for that, yea laptop purchase is def comming now that these guys have all agreed. The thing you dont seem to get is that I dont want it just for my self, we ussualy have 2 laptops, a desktop, atleast one xbox and 2 iphones running hence why i want the 100/50. At the mo the speeds I am reporting are while only having one device connected. Also as far as the speeds go I was with voda last and orcon before them and with voda we were getting 41mbps down speeds....only changed to telecom as wanted fibre and fast speeds...turns out that with this laptop I am getting slower speeds....So yes I still think we need fibre 100 not 30

This is like asking why your 50cc scooter can not do the open road speed limit of 100km/h

How the OP can be at a loss if this is the same person from FaceBook on the @TelecomNZ page is beyond me,

Yes I understand that johnr and that is ow why I am asking for advice on what to look for when purchasing 2nd hand off trademe as that is what I am going to need to do. As for the scooter......An autobahn is an "elite" road where you travel at high speeds (autobahn equals fibre 100 in this case) You are screened before going onto the autobahn and if your vehicle is underpowered, you are not allowed on the autobahn....At least thanks to this situation, telecom are now reviewing their sales policy for fibre 100 and instructing their staff not to say only a wee drop in speed is to be expected with an older device.

In reality you're not going to be needing 100mbit on one device, that's the point I'm making.

Also johnr...yes that was me...If yopu read this prop, you would see that I had come to terms with the fact it was my laptop until this PC guy told me it wasnt...hence why i decided to ask on here. Secondly your comment about WELTEC....yopu are trying to say your surprised as I am certainly no genius...Well I will pont out here the same thing i did on FB...I  studied chefing at weltec.....International cert and diploma in cooking and culinary arts...Now I will ask you the same question i did on FB, which you didnt answer...its a real simple question that even a DUMMY like me could answer....WHAT ON EARTH DOES THE FACT THAT I AM A CHEF, HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MY COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE?? I have not once pretended to know anything about IT and I tried to make that as clear as possible on here and I am pretty sure all the other posters were aware of that.

Yeap I understand that, but i dont want 100mbps for one device...I want it for 5-6 devices running at the same time...Only reason that only one device is running at the mo is that when any other devices are running, my speeds drop even more...I pay for the internet hence why I have put my foot down at the mo and only my device is to be used and nobody elses.

If that is why you want 100Mbps then your test is inappropriate. If you want it to share with 5-6 devices then test with 5-6 devices at once, not one at a time.

Nah nah nah....come on answer the question, you are the one who brought up me studying at weltec...so lets here it....whats your answer?  What does me being a chef, have to do with the price of fish?

secondly....why should I be happy with my speeds and the fact that I can get fibre while others cant.......For starters...I was getting gfaster speeds with voda, thats one reason why i shouldnt just "be happy". 2nd is.....I do have fibre in my area, that was a huge factor when choosig the new house....So no I should just be happy that I am hitting 40mbps or that I have fibre. simple fact of the matter is I was gettig faster with voda on copper...Not by much but still it was faster.

johnr: AvidRAcer this is the issue people gave you helpful INFO and you only came back at them with Caps lock on, Telecom / RSP should not have to take into account what your PC NIC card / WiFi is capable of

Wow your impossible aye, you have not once given me any helpfull info...the other people on here have. Actualy they should have taken it into account ONLY BECAUSE I SPECIFICllY ASKED THEM IF MY SPEEDS WOULD BE EFFECTED and was told only the OS mattered...telecom listend to that call and now I have been given a credit and am only beiong charged for fibre 30 untill i get new lapp beinging of jan. They are aso changing thier sales policy with regards to fibre 100 so clearly they agreed with me that an elite service like fibre 100 needs more info for public..

Caps is not being angry like you seem to think, i use caps like a highlighter to put emphasis on something important..

You stil havent answered the question after your very snied comment about me having studied at weltec.

Instead of using caps use BBcode and use bold
