Got a second line with Spark that went from 38 -> 58Mbit

You could team 2 x 50Mbit VDSL WAN's into a pfSense box and get 100Mbit...
Good solution if you got the money, and arent getting Fibre for ~2 years

Snackos: How do you know if you have been switched? I'm on a 8b profile with current speeds of 35/10 so hoping for some more download. Just wondering if they tell you or do you just need to restart your modem every few days to check?

Wow, talk about timing. Just got home and had a look. Nice boost from 35/10

Too scared to reboot the modem now.

My wife works for Spark so it's free. I was doing dual wan with pfsense but was running into issues with some sites running via CDN, because it's on two different ISP's and CDN is reliant on DNS sh*t broke

We don't get fibre till next year sometime, got a letter last week as they're starting work soon

Nice, yeah I'm hurrying up and waiting too! Also on a 8b connection but more just curious to see what it can do! Currently sitting on 43/10. Admittedly every morning for the past couple of weeks I've sneaked a look at the fritz to no avail.. What to they say about a watched pot boiling?

Just curious. Whilst I get 55/11 on my ethernet, i only get 28/10 on my wireless. I know that's because of overhead, reception/interference issues etc. I only have a 72.2 wireless N connection. Was just wondering if I buy a new N adaptor with higher rated speed (up to 300) if I can brute force the connection to max out or will i still face the same problem?

Depends if the router and your new card are dual band. you are clearly running on a 20Mhz channel since you only have 72, so 2 stream will only give you 144 meg, and there isnt usually a doubling in real world speed when going from 1 to 2 streams.

To see any apreciable difference you would need to go 5Ghz, to get the wider channels that actually work. And you may as well go for 802.11ac while you are at it since its faster than n.

Was torrenting at 11MB/s last night on my VDSL.
Didnt bother with a speed test cause cbf but ill see what i get when i get home.

Without upgrading that you are seeing about all you will.

I get 15 on a good day over 2.4GHz wifi here at home doing a client device to my unifi AP's

Annoying thing is that an outdoor bridge between buildings while I was screwing around getting the cable in was able to push 90's across it, so there is a lot to be said for greenfield mode and ignoring all the other crap on the band.

Well thanks for the answers. At this point I will hold of on upgrading the wifi then as UFB is due in my street early 2016 so will likely switch to bigpipe and get a new AC enabled dual band router at that point

Still stoked at the increase from 35/10 to 55/11 though. VDSL is definitely a nice option for those that can't get fibre.

a 65mbps wifi connections is capable of about 42-43mbps as its max speed, if you are only getting in the 20's then i suggest your device is the issue not the modem. I have a few devices here they wont get more than about 24-30 over wifi N.

Also the nf4v is a 2x2 MIMO so a single 40Mhz channel should allow speeds up to 150mbps, but if your device supports 2x2MIMO then you should be able to see 300mbps over that same 40Mhz channel.

i would suggest your devices are your limiting factor
