Hmm, interesting, I lost sync for a while at roughly 1:05 am and thought I had been upgraded... but looking at Max DSLAM throughput and spectrum I guess maybe not...?  My connection did go from 27/10 to 43/8 though:

Any and all analysis and comment appreciated, primarily around whether I'm on 997 or 998 hence posting in this thread.

I used to sync at over 60 but either the firmware upgrade or maybe wiring has trashed that.

Thanks

@sidefx you are most definitely on 998, if you look at the spectrum you have some green in the Up stream 0 portion of the graph, between 0 and about 30, this is an indicator of 998, and also the drop in the upload speed from 10 to 8 is also another indicator. odd the the max throughput's havent changed

@scottjpalmer definitely not on 998, as you are on a 17a profile you would expect the upload speed to be well over 10 once the upgrade has taken place, the easiest way to tell is to look at the spectrum

@Jase2985: Thanks yeah, I had missed that thin sliver of green. I also compared my spectrum graph to an older one this morning, and it looks like it's using higher frequencies. Sweet.  :)  Mainly the max throughput threw me - but it looks like I got another DLM resync at 3am which has updated it to the correct values, and bumped my sync rate up a bit too. Unfortunately it looks like it also bumped up my interleaving or something, but I guess that might come back down given some time?

(PS: I guess a good chunk of the country is now upgraded, but I'm in Mount Eden in Auckland so I guess we can add that to the list of upgraded areas... at least my cabinet is)

my default slingshot modem wont let me see the dslam info, but my attainable/current up/down hasn't changed as of yet here in Remuera, i've been on 41/10 for the last few months.

anyone in my area been upgraded or can tell me if i already have been? :P

@Unida you wont have been updated yet, check when your device last resynced, and you should notice a change in your speed, i would suspect you would go up to mid 50's when the change occurs

@sidefx yes the interleaving changes with the upgrade, it seems that the first profile you start on has it by default then as DLM does it thing it gets changed. should hopefully drop again

word is the upgrades should be done by the 18th of December.

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to all this stuff, but would the change have something to do with why my ping on the speed tests has gone from a consistent 6ms to the mid 20s? And is that likely to improve once the line management has done its thing?

yes as mentioned you go to a DLM profile that generally has 8ms delay (so 16ms total) after the change over, this should hopefully drop back to what you had in a few days when DLM does it thing

Ah, thanks. Some of the technical stuff went over my head a bit. I'll give it a week or two to settle.

Every time I've had my DLM profile change it's taken almost exactly a month to switch back. It's been 26 days since my switch to 998 so I'm hoping it'll come right in a week or so.

US0 doesnt inherently indicate 998 past the fact that 997 here did not have US0 enabled.

That is a 998ADE bandplan there though.

@sidefx

That appears to be a very odd sync, Most people moving over to 998 have jumped to DLM-2 or DLM-4 upon the change, and as you noted normally the DSLAM changes its max figures. Not the first line in this thread that we have seen go haywire. Suspect there is some human error showing its face a little with these upgrades.
Looking at your later post this was resolved later on however which is looking much better :)

Your definitely on the 8b 9dB profile there so that looks nice, Sizeable jump in your downstream and upstream dropping a little is kinda As expected.

@scottjpalmer i recall your line looking much nicer before. You are Definatly on a 17a sync there although it looks like your ending at 12mhz for some reason, Landing you missing out on the third Downstream band. Has something been changed on your line...

You did dropbox your specturm for me awhile back, but sadly the links are 404ing now so its hard to directly compare there.

To drop from DLM-2 to DLM-1 it does Generally often take a month unfortunately..

They should be focussing the UFB rollout in areas where the sync speeds are low. :)

that would have been the smart way to do things, roll out UFB to those who couldnt get VDSL. But thats a whole nother thread
