gareth41: This all sounds typical of Spark, no communication from them. My advice as mentioned in another thread is sign up for fibre with a small provider initially.

he cant sign up with anyone as fibre isnt available at his address yet.

I am trying to post the photo of boxes that contractor told me about that these are ready to be connected to homes
This is the link

Anybody seen these as they were the one contractors pointed me to. When they told me that it's been ready.
Meanwhile I will wait for flyer in mail saying it's ready, might look at a smaller operator if nothing moves by end of April,.

That is an Blown Fibre Aerial Terminal Box - (this one has no connections from it) These are just where the ends of the microducts are housed for the aerial service leads to be connected to - there is no fibre in them until a service is installed and the fibre is Blown down the ducting from a terminal (ABFAT - Air Blown Fibre Access Terminal) housed further back (in the ground).

Having these up on the poles doesn't mean that the UFB service is ready to use. After the actual physical build down the street there is work of actually installing the terminals, feeding them with the backhaul Fibre, Exchange equipment install, Records updating and integration & Service commission testing and acceptance - all before the network is actually ready to have customers connected. Only them can an order be placed by an RSP with the network operator.

If the Chorus site say for your address that it will be available May 2016 then no mater which RSP you ask to have a connection they will not be able to progress an order till the area goes live around May.

As I explained above in a post above the presence of the network and hardware such as the FAT does not mean the network is necessarily ready for provisioning. A typical network build is a large area which will often be multiple streets or even a big chunk of a suburb will be built out, and then once this is complete it will go live. This can be months from when the build starts, and just because they've finished outside your house does not mean the node(s) are yet finished. A lot of work still has to occur afterwards including data for every property being loaded before an order can be lodged.

If the Chorus map says May then it's highly likely that your area will go live in May. Contacting other RSP's won't speed this process up as none can place an order until it's live in the Chorus Portal.

If you were really desperate you would check the chorus map twice a week eg Mon/tues and thurs from about the second week of May.

Seems the answer has been given several times that the service isn't available until May, I understand that as its currently early April.

Jase2985:

FYI you cant order UFB if its not avaliable, and you were told wrong. No one should be calling you back as you havent/cant place an order for UFB as its currently not avaliable at your place.

Pre registering means nothing, it means they will send you an email when its available in there system and say you can now order it. doesnt mean you will be shifted to it.

My advise is keep checking the chorus UFB map and when it says its available at your address order it from your ISP.

for now there is nothing more you can do.

Yep, perhaps OP was told it will be May and once its available, up to 10 days for the LFC to make contact. Fibre having been run and a box on the street is just the physical cables. It took maybe three months after my cables were run, to get the Fibre Is Available flyer.
