It sounds like you're stuck in the limbo between two organisations trying to do things via email and portals rather than talking to each other.

Your ISP is the main channel though - hit them first. If they arent responding, publicly state it on this forum. Its sad, but once companies find themselves in the spotlight they step up fast. Dont forget to publicly post on their fb, twitter etc.

Hi, for those interested in this thread, earlier on I did PM felffo and discuss what the original issue the Chorus contractor had, bear in mind this is an infill sub division, so the first issue was that they could not locate the end of the conduit, felffo then set about and exposed that and advised his ISP, the ISP then got Chorus to return which they did and via felffo's ISP he got the following response.

Chorus have advised additional network/civil build is required before they can proceed with your Fibre installation.
We will let you know once a new update becomes available.

Which is exactly what I expected the next step to be, ie now they can see a path to the property from the street front, they now need to build the network to that location, this is something only Chorus can do as its their network to build.

I seem to remember at the time mentioning to felffo that it may take a modest time for that build to occur as its may require escalation to within the inner workings of Chorus and then snippets of instructions would be released to a contractor to execute.

To be honest I am not surprised in the current time to get here, but purhaps @chorusnz can help to see if a know time frame is available.

Cheers

Cyril

This is just Chorus contractors being utter lazy sods. They could easily throw a cable rod down that duct and have it done in minutes. Chances are they are so woefully unprepared they probably don't even carry a cable rod with them.

If no one is budging, give ConTel a call. They are the one good group of Chorus contractors in town and will get this sorted for you no sweat. You will have to pay them directly as they won't be there under the Chorus umbrella.

Edit: And if you still can't get them to sort it, I could probably be persuaded to chuck a pair of overalls on and come rod it for you - I like Panhead haha.

Hi Sam, so I think this has moved past that, initially chorus could not locate the end of the duct at the street end, so pushed back, that said they could have sent a sender pair down from the house end and attempted to locate it.

Anyway, the duct end is now exposed so on their second return were happy with that bit, the issue now is as its a infill section there presumably is no spare tubes on the Chorus side back to the pit/cabinet, therefore the current sticking point is further netwrok build on Chorus's part, nothing the OP can do or fix, but hopefully a prod from here at @chorusnz will get it moving.

Yes thanks for your help so far Cyril; after that initial email I tried to get an update from Chorus but they advised me the exact opppsite of what they’d said through my ISP (I was told they are still awaiting the duct location and that I would need to talk to my builder re: this, and in fact it hadn’t been escalated to the team who performs the civil build yet etc... until the duct is found, even after telling the subcontractor where it was and him physically looking at it). This was after the email above as well, so you can see how I might be confused.

I will go through my ISP again and give it a go; they have asked for an update already, awaiting response.

Hehe, and I thought they had fun with our rural fibre install here! 🤣

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.
