Like has been said previous use the spark supplied modem as this is setup and optimised for the Spark UFB network.
Benjour:
I use Spark. And I need just one. As Spark need VLAN Tagging and stuff to be able to connect to the Internet on Fibre, I can't just plug it into the ONT.
Yes, you can. Go to the network card settings on your computer, and switch on the VLAN tagging option. The setting is at different places for different brands so you might need to Google it. Some brands may require you download an additional utility.

Then the trademe link I posted or any other Spark HG630b will work fine.
ubergeeknz:
Cheap switches are not managed, won't do VLAN tagging, etc.

Not true, I've got a TP Link 24 port gigabit switch that does VLAN tagging and other managed features for ~$160.

what is wrong with the router spark provided you with?
Go a buy a HG659, Factory reset it and plug the blue port into the ONT GIGA1 port with the yellow cable provided.
Take my suggestion and run with it, You wont get a better one.
Or if you want a router that is just a router, and doesn't have Wifi or anything else included with it. Then get a Ubiquity Edge Router Lite. They can do gigabit fibre speeds easily.

Yes they are reliable as well. Uptime on my ERL is currently 1 year and 4 months. In otherwords I last restarted it 1 year and 4 months ago. And im pretty sure the reason for restarting it was to update the firmware.
No. Switch is only Switch that can connect Devices togather. router does the same thing but connects you to the inernet and much more. But Router can act like a switch too in the settings
