There is one standard of power over ethernet, 802.3af - anything else is a nasty vendor specific hack, and to call it power over ethernet is false advertising since power over ethernet is an industry accepted name for a standard.
Powered over cat-5, powered over network etc yeah, they can get away with, but ethernet is not a generic term to be used like that.
