Saw the signs, and knew it was a matter of time before they came to my door. Lo and behold, they approached my wife while I was out and left some information with her to show me. Pretty impressed, enough so to let him in the house and he was direct and informative. So the basic rundown of what I liked about the system: 2GIG technology with a Z-Wave capable control panel, two-way voice communication (that alone I would buy) cellular monitoring (matter of time till NZ converts to it) and wireless equipment. The fact the cameras run on a cloud storage was a plus but not a deal breaker, so far so good.. Depends on the sales rep I say, mine was a kiwi, good bloke and not pushy. Worth the price for me? I've had two break ins with a previously monitored alarm so I do have more peace of mind.
I had one of their sales people knock on the door today.
The sales person was very sketchy on the details, and explained all the benefits including the video camera. I asked to see the contract terms, Which he said he could change from 60 months to 42 months, the fee would be $49.99.
I asked about the monitoring, and was told it was through First Security, but when I tired to verify this on the contract there were no details about monitoring. I gave him my business card, and asked him to call me in the morning as I was not comfortable signing the contract without doing more homework. When I called the 09 local phone number for the company the call went through to America, where the person on the other end of the phone could not confirm the monitoring arrangement with me, and basically had no clue about New Zealand.
The equipment offered for free installation included everything in the advanced security package listed on their website. But I feel the sales person had the information wrong. He had very broken english, and did not understand the product he was selling. I'm not comfortable signing a contract that he changes with pen and does not initial or sign.
Glad I found this thread.
When he calls tomorrow I will be saying no thanks.
