Well, walked into Telecom, walked out with 64GB space grey. Very easy.

Two year warranty on open term. Not keeping the plan.

So after all that waiting around and refreshing for the Apple store, I called Telecom 123 just before and ordered a Gold 32GB iPhone 5S on 24 month interest free payment, on the $39/month open plan, and they said it will be delivered in 3-5 days (better than the 2-3 weeks from Apple!)
Should have done that at 9am this morning instead of waiting until lunch time :)

joker97: does anyone know if telecom will start to sell them outright on prepay? and will they stock 64gb?

and most important question - is buying from apple or buying from telecom better in terms of warranty during warranty period and after warranty period (aka cga)?

many thanks

Guess  they will when demand drops.  May take a day or two..

meme82:..
ps how's the gold in person? anyone upset it looks different to the promo pics? I'm pretty happy if it's lighter

IMO the shots here feel about right to what I have in my hand: http://www.apple.com/iphone-5s/design/
O
bviously lighting etc, plus monitor calibration blah blah.  But it's more of that bronze feel than gold which is what I hoped for. Not so much "lighter"...

I ended up going to Telecom at Sylvia Park and bought a 32GB Silver on open term, 24 months interest free.

Goodbye Vodafone after 10 years of mobile service! My number is being ported over this afternoon.

Called my gen-i account manager to try get one, who had a good lol at me (fair enough too). Funny I ordered my 32GB Black after some of you guys and have the slightly earlier shipping date.

jarledb: It supports:

1 (2100 MHz)
2 (1900 MHz)
3 (1800 MHz)
5 (850 MHz)
7 (2600 MHz)
8 (900 MHz)
20 (800 DD)
38 (TD 2600)
39 (TD 1900)
40 (TD 2300)

Ref: http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/

Interesting, I'm surprised Telecom hasn't re-used the 800Mhz frequency they used to use for their old analogue network for their LTE deployment - any reason why they've held off?

I think the Gold one is in short supply, thats why its taking longer for delivery.

So if 700Mhz is going to be used in NZ for LTE does that mean people don't be able to use their NZ iPhone 5/c/s when the carriers move over to it? or do I understand this wrong?

Correct, much like how 2100MHz used to be the VF 3G standard, now it's mostly 900MHz I belive.

Tried to see if I could speed up the process by ordering from telecom, apparently all stores nationwide are out of stock at the moment! Off contract, that is.

At about 6 this evening, i was able to get a 64GB 5s from Telecom in Queensgate on open term. Sweet. What a jump in performance from 4S to 5s.
