Ordered my 5s on 6th November from apple.co.nz. Shipping dates said 27 Nov - 5 Dec 13

Checked today and its 25 Nov - 3 Dec 13.

Also have noticed my credit card which Apple took the money on the 6th has now been creditted back (they must of been holding it to confirm the order). Talked to Apple today and they said my card will be charged once the iphone is ready to be shipped out. (their chat feature on their website is pretty cool).

Excited!

(sweet forum by the way, been meaning to join for ages)

pennells: Thanks guys, I'd already turned off everything like that except I was still using Bluetooth sometimes, so I will leave that off and see how I go now.  Cheers!

So I've managed to get reasonable battery life now.  It's lasting for a day or so now which I can cope with.  Definitely MUCH hungrier than the 4 was on the same OS tho.

Got it! That was quick! Thanks Apple ;) (even though it says CHC apparently it has something to do with TNT's post code reader)

Hi Pennells - just curious you still finding battery life to be much worse than 4 ?  If so, has your usage pattern changed?  (for example, you now using Facebook, but not on the 4 etc?)

For me, i'm noticing better battery life than the 5, but then again, the 5 didn't have a sparkly new battery.    I've read that there's a fair bit of extra processing going on the phone for the first while for things like indexing (for  search).

Nope, if anything my usage has dropped.  However, it seems to be getting better as the days pass.  I spent 10 minutes on FB earlier and only lost 3% battery this time, instead of 12% a few days ago.  I reckon I might get 36hours from a charge now.

I unplugged mine before i went to bed last night (roughly 10:30pm). Woke up and it was still 100%. Has only just gone down to 99%

Haven't really been using it that much. But standby seems pretty good so far

Just checked my GEM VISA statement.. I was charged a $29 "international transaction fee".  The actual phone payment was made to "Global Collect Apple N SYDNEY AU" according to my statement.  Currently on hold with Apple trying to sort it out.

 Check your statements people!

Dude you might want to check the Terms and Conditions of your GEM Visa… its a standard charge (3%) of the value of the transaction for anything charged from an overseas supplier etc etc… Its not Apples problem.

"dude".. it wasn't an international transaction.  I purchased from the NZ apple store.

Update: finally got hold of someone useful at Apple, apparently this has happened a lot with GEM.  Need to reiterate to them that the purchase was made to a NZ company and show them the invoice.  Currently on hold to GEM. Sigh.

Pretty happy with the battery life. Haven't charged it since Thurs night when I got the phone. Still on 20%, going to see how long I can make it last!

GEM Visa credit my account for the international transaction fee so that's good.  Wasted a good 90 minutes of my life sorting it out though.

But in better news, I'm getting a solid 2 days out of the battery now with normal usage.
