I have a similar problem with my wifi connection.  If I sit with my laptop and iPhone beside each other, the laptop finds about 4 wifi connections but the iPhone only picks up one.  Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do?

That's a problem I'm facing on my iPod. The device actually does detect the network, but does not list it (so if a previous auto-connect network was detected, it still connects, but the network itself sometimes doesn't show up for some reason). It seems really buggy to me.

psychrn: Apple Iphone support 00800 7666 7666

Number doesn't work (not even without the leading zero typo).

I tried this number before iPhone release for Apple support and it wasn't functional then either.

Edit: This was NOT a typo. See below: the number really is 00800 (ie. DOUBLE "O" Eight hundred). Apparently a free call number too (see below).

I have not been able to figure out what to do with mine today but did try the number listed earlier and it rang through to apple support with options from there.  I think I will give them a call tomorrow and see what I can do.

Do you have to be in Auckland?

Whenever I dial, it has a Telecom male voice saying "Please enter your PIN".

Can you tell me what happens if you use your cellphone to call? I get the same message (but not a "number not available from mobiles" message).

Strange. Mobile behaviour should be the same regardless of area.

Can I double check?

0800 7666 7666

Edit: So is it double 0??

00 800 7666 7666?

I tried that and it rung (then I hung up immediately).

Is an 00800 number a toll call?? I don't even know what an 00800 number IS.

Yes you definitely need the 00800 number as I posted.
I tried the 0800 number as you tried and get the same.
When I 1st rang up they they were open till 2300 according to the CSR
Unfortunately when I just tried they were closed.

I dont know if its a toll call. I suspect not

alsta: Make sure network is 802.11g compatible.

Use a WPA password not WEP.

I am able to connect using WEP without anything issues on my 3G iPhone.

The 00800 number for Apple's support is what is (apparently) called a Universal International Freephone Number (UIFN). It's really 00 for an international call prefix and then 800 for the ITU country code for a toll free international call.

I've had no problems calling it from landlines, but it didn't work when I tried it on my Vodafone mobile. That was about six months ago so things may have changed. Or perhaps you need to dial it as +800 on the mobile? I didn't try that.
