Hi, just want to let you guys know how helpfull this topic has been for me.

I hope someone out there could answer this issue i have with mms, have got everything working but when it comes to sending a mms(picture) the sending bar gets to the end and pauses for a second, then i get a red (!) symbol next to my picture. have rebooted a number of time but no success.

rang vodafone nz iphone support line and they tell me because i have a 2g iphone it won't send as mms is on 3g network. wondering if any one has the same issue i'm having.

help!

If you have the original iPhone (not the 3G model) then no it won't work under OS3.0, unless you jailbreak the phone and install an app to get it working.

thanks corksta, i've have jailbroken the phone as theres cydia on it and the phone was originally purchased in the usa back in 2007. i've got the camera icon in my msg app and have installed activatemms2g from cydia as well and followed the instructions on get mms on 2g.

do you think my carrier has not properly activated my mms settings on their end?

have google this issue and some out there is having the same issue but no one has given a way to resolve it as this site was my last desperate avenue.

Not sure, my guess would be it has something to do with the settings simply not compatibile with Vodafone's network, but you're probably best to wait for someone else who's more knowledgable in this area to answer your question.

hi everyone, i've got an issue with a red(!) symbol next to my picture when trying to send a mms and was wondering if anyone has come across this?

have tried everything in this post and others, i've got a camera icon in my msg app and my settings are live.vodafone.com for both carrier data and mms settings, it saves ok. sending bar seems to go right to the end when sending and hangs for a second then it gives me the red(!) symbol.

help anyone?

It should work on 2g. Apn should be live.vodafone.com. Type it I'm both mms and data network then reboot iPhone. Mms should work, the only problem is you won't be able to seems and receives emails or check for wheather update. I don't send mms all the time so what I do is change the apn settings when I want to send pxt. I'll keep posting when I get a soulution. Happy days

Hi, I'm having trouble getting my 2G to MMS successfully. If I use APN live.vodafone.com for both MMS and Data it WILL send MMS PXTs but I then have no data access over cellular (only Wifi data access). If I use APN www.vodafone.net.nz or www.iphone-vodafone.net.nz for both data and MMS I get cellular data fine but MMS hangs at the end and then gives the red !

If I use www.vodafone.net.nz or www.iphone-vodafone.net.nz as my data APN and attempt to enter live.vodafone.com as my MMS APN it refuses to accept the setting and reverts to blank.

I have...
Full upgraded to 3.0
Jailbroken and Unlocked
Upgraded carrier version to 4.1
Read and tried everything in this topic

As you can imagine I'm not keen to have to change my APN setting every time I want to send an MMS

Does anybody have any suggestions???

Hi everybody, I have solved the issue with not accepting MMS APN live.vodafone.com.

Here's what I did

Call vodafone on 0800 700 787 and selected option 3 for support
Asked them to check MMS settings on my SIM were correct and that MMS APN was live.vodafone.com
Then on the APN settings screen on my phone a scrolled to the bottom and pressed reset - this forces your phone to take the settings from you SIM. (make sure you have upgraded your carrier version to 4.1 as in an earlier post on this topic).
Immediately the correct settings were there.
Now reboot your phone - I do this from my Boss Preferences screen but you can do by holding power and home button for 5 seconds.

It now works perfectly sending MMS and with data over cellular network. (Bloody slow if you don't have good coverage)

Yes!!!

It's a bit complicated, you need an SSH app on your phone (install from Cydia) and a wireless network.
Then download this file http://www.unlockit.co.nz/IPCC/Vodafone_nz.NEW.ipcc and have it ready to drag accross once you have SSH ready

You then SSH that .bundle file to you iPhone in the /private/var/mobile/Library/CarrierBundle location.
Here is a good YouTube video showing how to SSH using Cyberduck or other APP
PC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIwukank-Xs&feature=related
Mac http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2I20tDnleg&feature=related

When you transfer the .bundle file to your iPhone it becomes like a folder and inside you will see 5 files. When I did this I simply deleted the existing files in the carrier bundle folder and moved the 5 new files to that folder and deleted the now empty vodafone bundle folder.

Not exactly easy if you've never done this kind of thing before but if your keen give it a go

Cheers

Plug it in, open iTunes, check for an update, download the carrier settings.
