Ive always had full speed during the day but it totally plummets during the evening. (200KB/s)

I hope the extra $10 can fix that?

Not too happy... we signed up on a 12 month contract. I cannot find anything explicitly in Slingshot's T&Cs, but if we sign up and promise to remain a Slingshot customer for 12 months, they cannot just decide to up the prices, right? If we promise to remain a customer, then implicitly Slingshot promise to provide the same service for the whole 12 months.

Is there something wrong with that? On a case-by-case basis Slingshot may come to the party and not charge you for excess usage (i.e. if they sent some technicians round to set up Grandma's broadband and they never set her up with a wi-fi password, I would put the blame on Slingshot), but in general, security is our own problem.

I do think it's a bit dodgy that they can seemingly decide to charge whatever they like, though, without voiding the contract. Would be interesting to see if that clause can stand up in the disputes tribunal. Though we'll just have to stomach the increase and hope the speed is increased in tandem, as $10/month is a bit of a petty dispute. Just disappoints me that they honour the spirit of the contract and hold off the increases until the 12 months are up, is all.

it would be nice, however its not as if everybody signed up on the same day so all have the same 12 month contract end period. and my guess would be it would be way too hard on the billing system to handle the differing amounts for the single plan.

I guess if you don't like it you can break the contract and go somewhere else?

I assume it should say my total bundle which include the phone line rather than only the Boardband?? Any one can confirm if slingshot just increase $10 a month for this plan or otherwise that's $111-$60=$51 for me. Undecided

Terribly poor wording, I got this email yesterday and wondered how they'd justify almost doubling the price.

Good to know that that was a mistake. The $10 extra is managable, however I do hope that the bandwidth increase is noticeable.

No other broadband provider (other than Compass, who are cheaper but I have heard their service is lacking) has such value for money as Slingshot so I'm hardly tempted to change providers, and we've typically had pretty good service from Slingshot when things go wrong (had a few line issues).

However, as technology advances broadband has continually been getting cheaper (i.e. the cost for a certain level of service has steadily decreased). If we end up getting a reasonable speed increase for the $ then I'm happy.

I had the same thoughts on the 12 month contract thing, but I guess if it is in the term and conditions then there is nothing that can be done. Not that many people would read all of that anyway, likely the part that would concern them first, if they had the time to search through.

Anyway, the way I see it is like this. The email send states:

"Over the next week we will be increasing the amount of bandwidth allocated to your unlimited plan, which means you should notice faster speeds throughout the day."

No where in that email does it say what the current bandwidth is allocated already, and what it is going to increase to?

How is the end user really going to be able to measure the proposed speed increase?
