I'd be really curious how the attenuation figure that snap measures is actually measured and how it relates to and differs from the attenuation figure people actually see on the Fritzbox. You're not the first to see quite different figures, in fact I had a prequal done and I think also got different figures.

The Chorus netmap data was all compiled manually during the cabinetisation rollout with staff conducting multiple tests at various locations off each cabinet/exchange to establish the line figures.

Good to know. I guess it also means these figures won't be 100% accurate all the time, and may also have changed in the interim?

Yeah pretty much. They obviously can't account for crosstalk either.

I see the inconsistencies daily with work, but as these figures are only estimates to the pole/pillar/pedestal they clearly can't factor in internal wiring. Overall they're a pretty good guide of service availability.

Well some good news, DLM seems to be doing it's job. I've moved up to 32mb attainable (30mb/s on speedtest.net) Think I'm at DLM 2 as my INP is now 0 and Latency is 8ms.

Ummm,,, that last jack in your photo, it appears to have a external cable that does not appear at the other two jacks. Could this possibly go straight back to the ETP, in which case you need to remove it at the ETO.

I haven't yet opened up the ETP so I guess I will find out then. I'm assuming its easy enough to disconnect those wires from the ETP if that's the case.

So things have gone downhill and I am now regretting going with not only VDSL but Snap in general. I've done what I can at my end. Had some major line issues 3 days ago, constant disconnects and speed dropped to 20.
Disconnects have stopped now but my speed is at 18 down. And Snap says that is okay and they can't do anything.
I never expected to get the 50 they advertise, but when you offer your services with a side by side comparison and show that even ADSL can run up to 24 down (although I would never expect that) and VDSL is up to 50. And then you tell the customer that they are extremely close to a exchange/cabinet and they can expect great speeds.
I realise I might as well go back down to ADSL as for me $25 extra isn't worth the nice upload, still at 10 down, as I very little upload. But I'm also so frustrated I locked myself into a 24 month contract to get a Fritz!Box so I could have VDSL, I have plenty of ADSL modems lying around.
I was at the point of going and getting a master filter, despite having isolated the line down to the one point for the modem, but am so frustrated that I'm willing to throw my money at getting this sorted and Snap acts as though everything is fine.
Snap needs to sort this out, they give out VDSL based on old guesses at potential line attenuation. Mine is at 12, out of the usual range for VDSL. I don't know if there is any easy way to check this before the connection is set up but they need to find a way before going around making promises of faster broadband.

Okay so Snap has called me, Chorus has reset the line so it's going through DLM again.
Also I've opened my ETP box and the wires entering the house are blue and white, now I've disconnected the blue and white wires in what I thought was the master socket so now I am extremely confused.

No, we don't know where it goes.
None of the 3 cables (the cables that are split into the many coloured ones in the previous pic) that enter the jackpoint which we thought was the main one are even blue.

OK Bubbles, your going to have to get crawling both underfloor and in the ceiling, you need to identify exactly where the cables go and establish a single unsplit pair from the ETP to modem.

I was afraid that would be your response. Hatch for the ceiling is just a few meters from the etp box. I have no idea where I can access under the house.
