No it's not just you - I also find the constant noise from them to be very intrusive.

I actually complained and spoke to someone in CS who logged an official complaint for me (seems over top, but hey ho, that's their "policy"

In the end I got an email back from CS saying something along the lines of " sorry, it's not possible to unsubscribe from our system texts"

So basically, it gives them license to spam my phone as much as they want.

Well done, the more people that complain the more likely they are to get something done. I had not thought of them as spam, as I know the sender, but of course you are quite right. And spam from someone you know - who says they are "unable" to stop sending it - is even worse than the normal kind. I guess a poorly designed system and engineers with too-limited resources to fix it are the root cause.

Have you disabled SMS as a contact option on your 2degrees webpage? This might stop the 'special offers'. But it won't stop anything related to your regular billing :(

>>You will receive one notification to confirm payment has been received, and another to >>confirm your allocations have renewed as these are more than often on different dates.

Your reply suggested - without explicitly saying - that its two pointless texts per month rather than three. I have been waiting for the texts to confirm this and it *is* 3 per month rather than two.

One to say that "your plan has renewed!"
One to say that "Hi. We've emailed the bill"
and then I'll get another to say that the auto-payment has been made.

Can you see how pointless this is for a pay monthly customer? One a month to say "thanks for paying" would suffice.

alasta: This drives me crazy too. I already know if my bill has been emailed - I don't need my bloody phone playing god save the queen to tell me so!

I really appreciate 2degrees looking into this and getting some clarification on the feasibility of allowing these messages to be disabled. Hopefully a solution will be available before too long.

I would seriously change my ringtone there mate, perhaps "God save the queen's great grand children" would be more appropriate?

I do appreciate knowing that my account is working normally, especially the text saying the amount to be charged when the payment is due. The invoice that comes through on email will sit there until I have time for accounting.

Time to find a new industry!

Had an interesting text alert experience yesterday when comparing to the month before:
----------------------------------------------------
26/4 06:24am - '2degrees alert: Good news! Your included plan mins & MBs have been renewed for the mth. To check bals dial *100*4# or login to Your 2degrees. Enjoy!"

30/4 11:03am - 'Hi. We've emailed this month's bill for $xx.xx. Payment is due 07 May. You're setup for auto payment on the due date.

8/5 01:25pm - 'Hi there. Thanks for your payment. This has now been credited to your account. Have a great day.
----------------------------------------------------
26/5 9:02am - '2degrees alert: Good news! Your included plan mins & MBs have been renewed for the mth. To check bals dial *100*4# or login to Your 2degrees. Enjoy!"

29/05 10:07am - 'Hi. We've emailed this month's bill for $xx.xx. Payment is due 05 Jun. You're setup for auto payment on the due date.'

31/5 03:22pm - "Hi. See your email email for this month's bill for $xx.xx due in -5 days. If you've set up an auto payment there's no need to do anything.

06/6 2:57pm - "Hi 2degrees here. Have you forgotten to pay your account? Your payment of $xx.xx is now due. Please pay this now by visiting Your 2degrees on our website"

06/6 - "Hi there. Thanks for your payment. this has now been credited to your account. Have a great day."
----------------------------------------------------

Note I did nothing yesterday payment wise. I just ignored the texts and it seems to have sorted itself. Confusing though!
