Can you describe the type of cable that goes to the pole? Might have to get up close to the demarc to see it well.

how is that?

there is a thick wire and a smaller thin rubber line where it meets the metal parts the rubber just wraps around it and the thick wire just goes into the demarc. don't think that rubber has any wires in it.

Always best to open demarc. Often there are extra cables that you haven't seen go off somewhere through walls. Also joints may be corroded etc.

found a white wire going somewhere else at the demarc point. these wires is so complicated.

I put the the master filter after that 2 black wires.  That white wire is going somewhere else in the house. The black wire at the bottom is the line coming in.

which one do I cut and join so no wires going off some place else and only the master filter is after the demarc point.

sorry the second pic is bit blur

To be completely honest i don't think anyone is going to be able to tell you conclusively how to fix this without physically looking at it and using a tone source to work out what wire goes where.

It does look like there were 2 lines in use once upon a time, and i can see retro twin wire (the big thick black thing) coming out of the house which is rubbish.

I'd suggest getting someone (with the right equipment) to rewire things as there is far to much mix and match going on by the looks of things.

Edit: lead-in from pole is 049 so shouldn't be any issues there.
