Well we will request a DLM reset for you BUT the information I have direct from a Chorus whitepaper is that during the validation phase (the initial 10-day training period), the DLM assessment cycle runs at 1min intervals, once the connection enters the Operational phase the DLM assessment is at daily intervals. Now if that were so then in most cases there would be no point to a DLM reset, by the time it was requested and actioned by Chorus it would have re-assessed in any case.

We will see....

the change to daily from minutely add up to months to drop down. while it will happen over time, i wouldnt call the few months it will probably take to get right the way down an acceptable timeframe really..

Nothing I can see indicates that - is that your actual experience? As far as I can see you may get a 7-10 day delay while DLM decides on the right profile, then it will undertake a weekly window to switch profile. Nothing indicates for instance to get to profile 6 from 1 it will take 5 steps over 5 weeks...if that is observed behaviour then I'll be discussing with Chorus...

As I said, we will see what happens.

ian13: Just called Orcon. They told me they do not monitor these connections, and therefore cannot reset DLM. Talk about frustrating!
Is there anyone that works for Orcon on these forums that could possibly help me?

Done. Before: 34500, After: 47000 (approx)

Result! and we learnt something internally too :-)

yes, this is from actual experience. moreso referring to the time it takes to go DLM-2 to DLM-1 however.

it usually moves to about 1 profile move downwards over a week.

yes, you can only move one profile spot at a time so for the poster in question, DLM 8 -> 7 -> 5 -> 3 ->4 -> 2 -> 1.

we have seen a few people go through this in the VDSL performance thread in the snap section if you want to find written posts about it (might take a little while though!).

DLM only makes moves in a per profile basis, some of the figures you pull out seem to reference what was written in the old chorus DLM documentation, but seem to no longer stand. (i cant quote exact referances proving without a doubt that they do indeed no longer stand in some sense, or i gladly would.)

also worth noting, as lines get older, DLM tends to get more "lazy" and doesnt make moves as frequently. by design IIRC.

DLM-2, you have a possible profile move that you can make there.

only 15 mins of uptime, so cant make the greatest ideas out of it, but your errors look good.

so far, looking great! your probably just out of reach of 17a unfortunately, but you could still be lucky.. look at the improvements so far..

I was going to come up here to report on the good news too, as last night my profile's got 0ms delay both ways!

Then I was hit by a powercut in the middle of the night, and just now my VDSL's dropped offline completely...

keep an eye on it, if it starts erroring alot more than normal, it could indicate somethings gone bad.

about 13.5 errors per min, which is rather on the high side still. damn sight better than before though. hopefully as your line stays synced, bitswap will clean up erroring bits a little for you.

chances are you will probably not get down to DLM-1 without dropping sync rate however, so you might wanna stay sitting on the 8ms profiles.

So far so good I'm happy with the speed at the moment. Hopefully it stays as it is at least .
