xxguestxx: Hoping a rep will see the post as well.

Thanks ^^

Hmmm, well slightly to my surprise I managed to pull the serial number off that image and find the account

Your synced at 16/8 and we show you as on the VDSL profile

I'll check on it Friday and see how DLM is behaving.

Assuming there isn't a wiring fault nothing magical is going to happen that'll suddenly speed that connection up. My pick is you're too far from the cabinet or exchange.

xxguestxx: Thanks. Sorry if i get terms messed up. I dont know much at all...only the bare basics.
Heres an image of the xDSL page. Is this what you need to see?
I have no idea what it all means hehe. But i know this info is alot better in your guys hands ;)

Thanks for the fast repsonses guys regardless of the outcome.

Really appreciate it ^^

I know others have said this but judging by your attenuation, you shouldn't have been given VDSL - technician's are meant to check these things and the say no if the premises are not suitable.
In either even, when this happens you have a couple of choices

  1. Roll back to ADSL (free of charge)
  2. Stick with the VDSL to see if the DLM training period yields any favorable changes.
  3. We can check out the line for you to make sure things are all configured correctly.
Can you also confirm that the technician did install a new master VDSL splitter, if he has not, then that would explain your high attenuation

Hi.

I know that he installed a splitter. Whether it was a VDSL Master Splitter i couldnt say for sure. Here are a couple pics of it, inside and out.

Looks like 2 conductors are used inside.

If i can do the Line check option id like to do that before i give up. Remote access or whatever it takes.
I really want to be absolutely sure that it can or cannot work without missing any single thing out. I need this if its possible ^^.

I'm by no means a qualified cable tech, but that to me looks like a jack point, not a splitter - which would explain the high attenuation.

Can you please message me with your account number and I will truck roll a tech as this looks like an FSI to us.

while thats not a filter, that confirms the jackpoint was installed, and looks like cat5 running there too.

tried tracing back or looking in your ETP? (normally something like looks like this - https://cdn.geekzone.co.nz/imagessubs/e019e76d5b9b4b43b44ae9cff0e0dfb5.jpg) to see if a filter is installed?

a master filter will look like this.

Just as a way of confirmation you can find nothing by or close to the ETP that looks like the aforementioned Master Splitter?

I just followed the cat5 back from the jackpoint along the  walls and up into the roof. I went into the roof and followed it right back to where it goes through the wall , outside to the ETP. There is no filter or any other connection between the jackpoint and the ETP that i could see. So i think the answer remains behind the ETP cover yet. :)

its designed to fit inside of the ETP, a flat head screw driver should do it....

That does suggest a proper instal has been done - you should see a new run of Cat5 back to the ETP where the splitter would be. Short of actually setting eyes on the splitter, the rest of it looks good so far.

If your upstream has already increased from 4.9 up to 8 up, it suggests that DLM is doing it's thing as designed, and fine tuning the connection. I'd wait and see what the latency does over the next few days. You're seeing better speeds than with ADSL, and if the latency is acceptable for what you need, I'd stick with VDSL.
