Yeah if you could tell us the letters on the front of the cabinet that will be great. Should be something like TBY/A or something.

I really appreciate you checking that out.

Aside from making my home wiring as good as it possibly can be is there much else that could be done?

Someone mentioned to me to convince a Chorus tech to try connecting me a different port. Thoughts?

If you're friendly with the neighbours, check what sync rate they are getting - that will give you a good idea of whether what you have is about right for the general area, or if there is a fault that is worth chasing.

Yep your street isnt connected to TBY/P but to the TBY Exchange via TBY/Q (just a copper interconnect cabinet) which is up on Glamorgan Drive - Approx cable distance from Equipment to your HSE is about 1.9km

Managed to claim an additional Mbps just now.

I snipped the wire half a metre from the ADSL jackpoint & wired in a CAT5e cable from there to the ETP.

Now I get:

Looking at the jackpoint I noticed that someone has stripped the wires before inserting them. I'm pretty sure you don't need to strip the wires at all.

Can anyone confirm this? I'll head down to jaycar & buy an insertion tool. Aim is to run CAT5e right to the jack.

Might just claim another 1Mbps....

run cat 5 from the ETP to the master splitter then cat 5 from there to the jackpoints

Wiring work complete.

Purchased new jackpoint & installed wires correctly (with insertion tool).

Setup is now like this:

ETP --> Master splitter >--CAT5e Cable -->>Jackpoint

Now I'm near on 8Mbps

Am I right in thinking this is as good as it gets considering my distance from the exchange (1.9km) or is there something else that could possibly be done on the Chorus end?

That's about the best you're going to get with 38dB attenuation and 12dB noise margin.

If Vodafone has LLU gear in that exchange you could switch to them, I believe they still use 6dB noise margin which could gain you 1-2Mbit more. Maybe check with one of the Vodafone guys.

This probably doesn't help much at all, but by comparison, my parents are pulling 20Mb/s over VDSL (with Spark) in Fitzwilliam Drive.
