Further to what I said earlier my son tells me that he and his girlfriend only use about 3 - 5 GBs a month so with that in mind with the naked dsl and voip phone together they could well end up paying less than what they were paying for this plan as I dont think they make very many toll calls.
PhoneMonkey: For Non LLU areas You can get a basic phoneline, 25.5 GBs of Data, FS/128 connection for $108 per month inc. GST - No Contract so in 3 months when something better comes along you're not stuck with a Vodafone deal that now seems "priced out of the market".
thanks for that i didn't realise you could buy data packs they don't have that listed anywhere on thier web page. I will certainly consider this as its getting closer to the mark.

Had a bit of feedback that the data packs aren't obvious enough, so we will have to look into that.
Worth remembering also that our casual data overage fee is just $1 per GB on our unbundled plans, so even if you do end up using more than you thought it isn't going to break the bank.

When exactly does the free homeline promotion end? I'm on it too (and very happy with it) but it must have been more than 12 months by now. Haven't recieved any emails from Orcon about it...

Unless Orcon releases some new plans before the homeline promotion ends (which is when??) I'll probably be switching providers.
Even if I drop the homeline extras and free national calling, to get the broadband equivalent of what I have now (FS/FS 20gb) would be around $30 a month more than what I'm paying now. To reiterate the topic: Why should I stay?
Or they could unbundle my area now (I'm in Mt Maunganui), I'd be on the unbundled plans in a flash! hint hint ;)
The talker surfer promo is supposed to end on the 22nd of this month, but from what I hear its been extended till the 22nd of sep (+1 month free).
You got to remember that you have has his special deal for a Free home line for a year....that’s why the new plan price seams more expensive. Up to your self but it seams like you are punishing your current ISP for giving you such a good deal (free home line for over a year).
If you need another reason to stay with Orcon, you could join "the world largest network" or you could stay with a Kiwi owned and operated business.
Personally I would probably take my business to the best provider and only you can decide who that is.
Hmm thats a good point. Considering a homeline is usually $45 (and adding that to any competitor's plan), an extra $30 a month to switch Orcon plans doesn't seem so bad anymore.
And I must say Orcon's customer service has always been excellent for me. Theres no way I'd go back to Telecom and Xnet's customer service was terrible too.
Well perhaps I will stick with Orcon. Haha I just hope the unbundling process filters down the country sooner rather than later! I want in on those new plans!
