Yeah well you obviously dont use the "p2p and some other trafic" that they shape then do you? Lol comeon i dont care if you dont have a problem. Im concerned about why so many people have problems with orcon. And why its only a certain few people with these problems. And i dont like how orcon shapes "p2p and some other trafic" even when you pay per GB. After all there not liable for what trafic you are using. And a GB of p2p or a GB of some other trafic is just as good as a GB of browsing.

Fact is i dont like orcons attitude. I cant trust someone with that attitude. And i cant trust someone with so many complaints ONGOING complaints about issues that just dont go away. If you have had a good experience with orcon then im happy for you. But i personally have never tried orcon and at this rate im not going to.

does this forum have an ignore feature?

If you are in the Orcon LLU area, give it a go, the Silver+ plan is quite good, which most of my customers have signed up to, No contract so if you dont like it, go somewhere else.

I definiatly prefer the Orcon LLU product to Vodafones LLU

I've been with ADSL2+ from Orcon for a few months now, and can't say I miss Telecom at all. Great speeds and overall good customer service.

But that's just me.

If I had it to do again, I wouldn't change to Orcon. If I hadn't blogged my keyboard to bits here and at http://luigicappel.wordpress.com and emailed their CEO, I don't think I would have got anything going reliably.

It's pretty good, although I have no Caller ID anymore, probably (I'm guessing) because of the Interleaving they applied to stop my connection from crashing all the time and in the last week my Orcon Wireless Router has been crashing instead.

It really hasn't been a happy experience and far from the praise they heap on themselves in their DM material.

I think someone wrote a nursery rhyme about Orcon. It goes like this:

When they are good, they are very very good
When they are bad they are horrid!

So your ADSL2+ is 40mbit/s down and 30mbit/s up?
Thats pretty cool.... alternatively that's pretty bull.

I wish.

Unfortunately, that was a one-off.

Rofl, that's not even possible on ADSL2+ - it's absolute max is 24Mbps down (i.e. 3MB/s) and I'm not sure how achievable that is
More than likely your client reports it wrong and means Mbps instead of MB/s i.e. 557KB/s down which sounds more likely :P (which is STILL a good speed!)

As for moving to orcon, I can't praise it enough. I've been with them before they got big and it was great then, but when they did their big expansion the service got crappier and crappier on the wholesale product (for me) but I decided to give them a go on LLU and it's been nothing but excellent. As for caller ID, that's a known issue and isn't subject to the interleaving option on the line.. some people dont get caller ID at all, some do sometimes and some do always

If intermittent (most of the time) no caller ID is a common known issue, then why haven't I been told that and why am I paying for it?

There is no charge for the caller ID service, is there?

It's part of a bundle I pay for.

You're paying for it? You're not on LLU? its Telecom then.

But how much is it worth?  Considering you can't get a bundle without it, I'd say $0.  I mean it could be anything, how would you quantify that?

Exactly.. if you ask them to turn it off it's not like you'll get a rebate

You are right, but there is no such thing as Free because if you compare with other suppliers it comes out very similar and as you say, you don't get a rebate for not having it.

Anyway, it's not really about the cost. My contract says I get it. I want it because I can see who is calling me. For example if it's my family I can take it, if it's a telemarketer offering me an awesome deal I don't want or gettng me to donate to yet another charity of the week. I can ignore it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not tight, just selective and don't like unwelcome intrusion into my family time. Now I can't tell who is calling and my contract says I should have that service.
