Just an update on my personal experience. Slingshot purchased some bandwidth on April 1st, and the download speeds at night instantly went up. For the first week in April, I was downloading at 500KBps+ which was amazing. Sadly, the bandwidth ran out, apparently, and everything went back to frustrating speeds at the end of that magical week.
I just want to give some credit where it's due. I downloaded around 150-160GB every month since I joined Slingshot in January 2009. It costs me $160 per month. If I was to do the same with any other provider, I would end up paying more. I calculated my monthly bill if I wanted to reach this kind of bandwidth limit on Telstra (my previous ISP) and it would've been well over $200 a month. For that, I'm happy with Slingshot, but I do hope they find a solution to the slow speed for downloads. I know a lot of kids go bananas and effectively steal all the bandwidth allocated for off-peak, and that pisses me off. I can't imagine how this can be sorted out, but I am still paying a lot of money for my Internet, and the it's becoming more and more like "first come first serve" issue, which it shouldn't come to in the first place.
i did 95gb off peak last month 1am -7am and i didnt even use it for 4 days in that month and i stayed in the 15gb off peak cost $59 , the speeds have improved lately
Social Bitcoin meetup every 2 weeks in Hamilton PM me for details
You get what you pay for... if you go with an ISP that's ~1$ per GB and free off peak you get crap speed in peak time - it's a given due to the amount of heavy downloaders on the network.
Good Customer Service... but 10 days to resolve a complain... their complains team is working at snail's pace in this fast paced world... speed sucks my transfer rate with my previous isp was 600-700 kbps anytime of the day. since joining slingshot my transfer rate is 20-30 kbps
